All on Nick

Camp Fred, iCarly Shake it up and Victorious.

I don't find this appropriate viewing for a 9 year old or am I just an old fud?!

Not seen any of them but if you don't like them then turn it off. Most TV for children older than CBeebies age is utter shite, my older DC aren't allowed to watch any of it and don't seem to be suffering as a result.

Tittypulumpcious · 29/08/2013 19:44

I would remove the tv altogether if I had my way!

My 9 and 6 year olds love Fred, I've only half paid attention but his voice is annoying.

Tbh it seems similar to things I watched at much the same age so it doesn't bother me.

missgrainger · 29/08/2013 19:47

banned by whom?

LanguageTimothy · 29/08/2013 19:47

If you don't want your children to watch them, just tell them so. You are in charge after all.

Tittypulumpcious · 29/08/2013 19:47

I had Worzel Gummidge! Fred is such crap they're having a burping contest..nice.

Nikeairyfairy · 29/08/2013 19:47

Oh god my 5yo watches some of this shit. I've decided it has to go. It's awful.

Rooners · 29/08/2013 19:48

I've seen a bit of victorious on CBBC, it seemed a bit crap.

We don't have nickelodeon.

I hate citv apart from the anime stuff, some of cbbc is rubbish too, most of cbeebies is alright. apart from baby jake

Thepowerof3 · 29/08/2013 19:48

I don't have sky but some of the kids programmes on CBBC are excellent

Tittypulumpcious · 29/08/2013 19:49

I'm not in charge it's not my daughter it's dh therefore he has the last word..engrossed she is. I'm off to cause a power cut!

McNewPants2013 · 29/08/2013 19:51

i love fred lol

maybe3x · 29/08/2013 19:53

If you've got Sky put a pin code to lock those channels, Ds has to ask if he wants to watch something on those channels and I'll unlock it for him depending on what it is. He does like those programmes but I don't think they're suitable hence the lock. So Yanbu.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 29/08/2013 19:55

iCarly should be banned on the grounds of camp shitness and profound child over-acting

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 29/08/2013 19:55

I don't know the others

Tittypulumpcious · 29/08/2013 19:57

Maybe3x we have virgin, wonder if I can do the same?

Personally I'd like to get rid altogether and have freeview, there's more to life than the tv!

Crunchymunchyhoneycakes · 29/08/2013 19:57

I don't know that fud and fuddy duddy are entirely equivalent in meaning.

StephenFrySaidSo · 29/08/2013 19:58

i love them all Grin

scrappydappydoo · 29/08/2013 20:54

Well a few weeks ago I wold have agreed and then I watched the appalling Violetta on Disney and anything is better than that. Even DD1 who watches anything switched over in disgust.

wigglesrock · 29/08/2013 21:12

Parents always think that - my mum stopped us watching Grange Hill because the pupils were cheeky Smile

Am not sure the feasiblility in banning something because you don't like it.

DD(8) loves Fred, Victorious, iCarly, Life with Boys, How to Rock and Big Time Rush. They are harmless, pretty innocent and good fun. I don't see the problem Confused

Meglet · 29/08/2013 21:47

We only have freeview so there's only cbeebies / CBBC and CITV to choose from. CBBC is great, I happily watch their factual docs even the Jedward ones are good.

Because I am an evil mother I've locked CITV, they are allowed a bit at weekends.

plum100 · 29/08/2013 21:56

Titty - I totally agree!! My 9 yr old has a ban on icarly and victorious and also Violetta -totally inaooropriate. Apart from the awful dubbing ...script like "you were with me last night and now you are with her".

the sad thing its the "Disney channel " which means it sounds ok but its not.

I will let her watch Jessie and good luck Charlie as these are more younger children based - reminds me of the crosbys

Avalicious1980 · 30/08/2013 09:03

It's even creepier when you read about the producer of these shows. Dan Schneider I think he's called.

Dobbiesmum · 30/08/2013 09:25

Just googled him Avalicious, all I can find apart from the usual Wki, official website and IMDB stuff is vicious unfounded rumours on forums that seem to like talking about sexually assaulting teenage girls using the crudest language.
Most of his stuff is crap, the actors are rubbish and the stereotypes are many but I don't find them creepy.
Oh, Fred makes my ears bleed though.... Grin
