AIBU to think someone/anyone should have told her this would be a huge mistake? Not going to link because I don't know how. But basically if you want to need eye bleach/ watch it its on YouTube. Miley Cyrus VMAs 2013.

Have you seen the performance?

Clearly over the last few months Miley has been very publicly divorcing herself from her Disney girl image but even so! Starting off in what can only be described as a furry teddy bear leotard which was hideous to Basically a skin tone bra and support pants and performing in a way worse than the video for blurred lines.

A clear attempt to shock and I am sure she will be in all the papers in the morning but I just think it could backfire on her. She is a young girl who could be sexy and provocative without basically simulating sex on stage in her underwear!

I really hate this sort of thing, where fully dressed men have half dressed women cavorting about them.

The girls look like lapdancers whilst the men look like they have just paid them. The words smug and controlling come to mind.

Jessie J is another young female performer who wears bra and undies and looks like a plaything for rich old men despite the edgy hairstyle and snarling expression.

It would be so much more subversive and eye catching if a fully dressed female performer had men dancing around her in various states of undress... therefore for this Miley Cyrus/Robin Thicke performance they should have had Miley in a suit and Robin in a flesh coloured thong....

But they never will do this, oh no, because female bright young things must show how hip they are by wearing next to nothing whilst older male performers must display how cool and in control they are Hmm

I actually feel sorry for Miley Cyrus as I think she is getting some duff advice from her management.

She doesn't look 'cool' or 'hip' [or whatever the term is nowadays] she just looks out of control and OTT and a bit desperate for attention.

Madonna did this type of semi naked, simulating sex shtick centuries ago... with her Sex book, etc.

Miley needs to find her own USP.... and quickly.

She is encouraging the next generation of girls to think taking drugs and behaving like a sex workers is 'cool'.
