To think this man should have apologised (trivial)

On busy train to work this morning, train stops, everyone gets up and moves into the aisle. Man next to me remains seated and starts fussing with his bag and accidentally drops his laptop straight onto my foot! I say ouch and all he does reach down and pick up the laptop and glare at me as if it were my foots fault he dropped his laptop on it. I said something along the lines of its polite to apologise and he continues to just glare at me. I definitely didn't knock his arm or anything to make him drop it. Huge bruise on my foot now, really painful. Surely it's common decency to apologise, accident or not. Right?

yabu. you chose to sit there. it was an accident. maybe he didn't speak English or was mute. you probably broke his laptop you do realise this?

It's entirely possible that he didn't speak English, realised you were angry but didn't understand what you were saying and was embarrassed. Otherwise he would surely have apologised, but these things happen in busy places.

Definitely spoke or at least understood English as he was typing a powerpoint the whole journey which was in English. Wasn't being nosey just saw it as I was looking around. Perhaps not comfortable speaking English but why glare? Strange

I just don't get the point of this type of AIBU thread. yanbu. there! he should have apologized. surely you know that. there is nothing in there to even debate. though it would be challenging to get 100 + posts from this .... hmmmm .....

well ye might meet him again on the train. perhaps limp when you catch his eye glare back at him and shout "hope ye broke your hard drive ye inconsiderate shit. YOU'LL BE HEARING FROM MY LAWYER". THEN post back his reaction and we can tell you if he was being unreasonable. Smile

Haha thanks Fluckered, he is on my commuter black list along with the woman who accidentally got sushi water all over me. I'm just not cut out for commuting...

Yes way home thankfully, her reaction was to reassure me "it's only water" Yes, mank sushi water. Again no apology. What is it about commuting that kills people's politeness eh?
