500 miles on "Wogan"!

It never gets old!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/08/2013 12:18

YABU! Pillock kept interrupting with tuneless whoops and this weird lisping "Hathatha" thing which sounded nothing like the chorus. I'm still fuming now.

comedycentral · 11/08/2013 12:54

I love it too Grin Really uplifting

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 11/08/2013 13:05

YAneverBU to be uplifted by the Proclaimers. It is the purpose of their existence Grin

I didn't hear that playing though so can't comment on the interrupts of which Jesus complains...

BlackAffronted · 11/08/2013 13:06

They play it at every single wedding I go to up here - love it!

Mrsrobertduvall · 11/08/2013 13:44

They are great.
Their new stuff is good too.

IneedAyoniNickname · 11/08/2013 14:12

Me and the dc saw them live last year, they were fab! Grin

IfIonlyhadsomesleep · 11/08/2013 14:47

Good-glad it's not just me! I do agree Jesus - Wogan should have kept quiet there.

YANBU. I loved The Proclaimers.

I'm now going to make myself look like a total numpty (probably not for the first time!).

Some years ago, when I first started watching Mock The Week, I thought that Frankie Boyle was one of The Proclaimers. I kept thinking to myself, "but they were such nice guys, why has one of them turned into this complete arsehole?"

It took me ages to work out that FBoyle is not a Proclaimer Blush

specialsubject · 11/08/2013 16:47

I heard that earlier while driving - now have sore throat from tuneless singing along...

one of many reasons to be alive!

Preferthedogtothekids · 11/08/2013 16:49

500 miles is fab! I also feel instantly brighter when I hear 'Come on Eileen' by Dexy's Midnight Runner. Must be my age.

Pancakeflipper · 11/08/2013 16:50

I love On My Way. Always cheers me up.

They must have been going for a few decades now. Sure and steady.... They are brilliant. Whenever I hear them being interviewed I think they are just lovely,

Giggles at the Frankie Boyle look-a-like thoughts!

thebody · 11/08/2013 16:51

love them but my favourite proclaimed is 'let's get married' its just lovely and funny. oh yes 'come in Eileen' brilliant

GlaikitFizzog · 11/08/2013 16:55

Saw them in Edinburgh last year for their 25th(?) anniversary tour.

I admit I wept at the little old couple I front or us having a wee waltz to Sunshine on Leith.

Throw the R away is my favourite. :o

FruOla · 11/08/2013 16:55

Yeah, I know, Pancake. The most embarrassing thing is that when The Proclaimers were at the height of their 'fame', so to speak, I used to work for the advertising agency that did all their advertising. How stupid am I?! Blush Grin

INeedSomeHelp · 11/08/2013 16:56

I love "Let's Get Married" too. And they did another one called "I want to spend my life with you" which is also great. Friends had that as their first dance and it was brilliant.
I made the mistake of marrying a Hearts fan which meant a ban on all Proclaimers songs. But as STBXH is no longer here I can listen to my hearts content!

GlaikitFizzog · 11/08/2013 16:59

I almost walked down the aisle to let's get married, but my dad forbade it! Had highland cathedral instead on pipes and proclaimers on the DVD!

Oh jean is a great one too! Has anyone seen the musical? sunshine on Leith?

BlehPukeVomit · 11/08/2013 17:03

YANBU

I am inspired and I am going listen to listen to them right now.

tootssweet · 11/08/2013 17:20

YANBU! I love The Proclaimers. We took my Dmum to see them for her 67th birthday at Ben n Jerry fest a couple of years ago. Remember dancing around with dd on my shoulders to 500 miles. I always make DP put them on as we cross the border to visit home.
I have seen 'Sunshine on Leith' with about 50 other people in Southampton. It was ok but Craig & Charlie do sound better!

thebody · 11/08/2013 17:31

GlaikitFizzog · 11/08/2013 17:34
