500 miles on "Wogan"!

I had a bit of a dance to them at Cornbury. They were good.

MelanieCheeks · 11/08/2013 18:13

I've heard that song 3 times in the last 24 hours. It came on my iPod shuffle as I was jogging yesterday, on this morning's jog, and then on Wogan.

Toped by the Kursaal Flyers Little Does she Know - also thrown up by my shuffle this morning, and then played by Johnny Walker this afternoon.

The musical was fab. Not a dry eye in the house at Sunshine on Leith.

Being part of 30,000 singing it at the cup final in 2007. Never seen so many grown men who had 'something in my eye'. Even if you don't like football, that rendition was something to behold.

I love The Proclaimers, I had 'let's get married' at my wedding. One of my favourite songs in the whole world.

I went to a wedding yesterday, the DJ played 500 miles twice. It never gets old.

WilsonFrickett · 11/08/2013 18:41

I walked down the aisle to Let's Get Married! Love the Proclaimers. Very much looking forward to the Sunshine on Leith film too, the stage show is brilliant!

INeedSomeHelp · 11/08/2013 19:13

I hope my neighbours like them as my ipod is now blasting them all out.
I think they write brilliant, catchy tunes but when you actually listen to the lyrics they are really romantic and poignant too.
I didn't know they were doing a film of Sunshine on Leith - hope they maje a good job of it

spudmasher · 11/08/2013 19:16

It was on that puppet thing last night too......which alarmingly, I found entertaining. They had to whack the puppet which sang the correct line....must get a life...

INeedSomeHelp · 11/08/2013 19:24

Ooh I've just googled and the film is out in October. It's being directed by Dexter Fletcher - I remember him from when he was in Press Gang (shows age)!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/08/2013 20:53

I bet you couldn't sing along in an English accent though? It is physically impossible not to sing "When yoooooo goooooooo...."

Fab band, am popping over to iTunes now.

Hassled · 11/08/2013 20:55

Sunshine on Leith always makes me a bit teary, despite having no connections to Leith, so another fan here.

SomethingChanged · 11/08/2013 21:45

Watching my son 'dance' along in his buggy to Letter from America whilst in the Co-op cheered me up no end. It's still going round my head a week later.

ChameleonCircuit · 11/08/2013 22:31

I like "It's Saturday Night", as well as all the ones already mentioned. Will have to add them to my playlists, we're off to Scotland soon. Grin

Floralnomad · 11/08/2013 22:34

They're fantastic live ,I've seen them three times in the last year and they always put on a great show .

mawbroon · 11/08/2013 22:43

Why can't The Proclaimers cut their grass?

Because, they have no mower.

The old ones are the best Grin

IHeartKingThistle · 11/08/2013 22:51

Saw them at Camp Bestival last weekend - sooooo good!

Glaikit I used to play 'throw the R away' to my Year 7s when I was teaching them about accent and dialect. I'm not sure what they got out of it but it made me happy!

AmIthatHot · 12/08/2013 00:29

Mehrida. I'm not a hibs fan, but hearing Sunshine on Leith sung at Easter Road makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I'm off to YouTube just now

And I love Letter from America. People think it is just broad singing, totally missing the history of highland clearances and the dispersion of the Scots all over the world, and then the parallels with the destruction of the traditional industries in the 70s/80s. Moving stuff
