Trivial alert.
Just got off a train and was exiting the station when I noticed this man's shoe laces were untied. I told him incase he hadn't noticed and he angrily told me that he knew and that 'I will do it when I get where I am going' then he shook his head. Hmm I thought I was being helpful. Similar happened in Superdrug a few weeks ago, lady left her bank card in machine so I went after her with it and she sort of turned back as I was approaching. I told her what she had done and she said 'For goodness sake I knowwww' sarcastically & stormed off.

What's going on? Anyone else had similar?

Total non issues I know but it irked me Brew Biscuit

YANBU. It sounds like you've bee unlucky and met two grumpy ungrateful gits in a row!

comedycentral · 26/07/2013 10:12

I know! I'm just chuckling at myself for posting this as I have actual issues that haven't annoyed me as much as that mans reaction. Odd

Manners have gone out of the window. When I hold the door for someone and don't get a 2thanks" I just turn round and say loudly "well thank you too". Gets their attention.

I have bad manners.

YANBU

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 26/07/2013 10:12

Wow, they were pretty thick weren't they? And rude and ungrateful!

You on the other hand are a star. Please be behind me when I envariably leave my card behind again, or my shopping. I will be very grateful!

Have some Flowers

Yankeecandlequeen · 26/07/2013 10:13

I "hate" bad manners that should say! lol!

livinginwonderland · 26/07/2013 10:15

People don't like being told they've been stupid!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 26/07/2013 10:15

*Invariably.

Is that right? It doesn't look right now. Confused

WilsonFrickett · 26/07/2013 10:33

You were being helpful. I am a helpful pointer-outer and am constantly amazed by the tuts and grumps I get back in return. But karma will bite them on the bum.

comedycentral · 26/07/2013 12:18

Thanks...I knew I was Crown
Thanks for the smiles and flowers.

What is with the grumps and tuts?

I agree that this may have something to do with it People don't like being told they've been stupid!

stubbornstains · 26/07/2013 12:31

Arrggghh...I cannot STAND helpful pointer-outers. Generally, I know I've got my cardigan on inside out (or similar), and really do not give a shit about it. However, I know they're just trying to help, so do try and thank them through gritted teeth, when my most honest impulse is to bite them on the ankle Grin

comedycentral · 26/07/2013 12:39

Thanks Stubborn, it was all one sided until now Smile

I forgot about this one but it made me laugh, last week my friend and I was out and my friend noticed this girls skirt seemed to be tucked in her pants (we were in the loos) my friend told her and the girl pointed out (nicely) that the skirt was meant to be like that. unhelpful pointer outers

ImperialBlether · 26/07/2013 12:40

But wouldn't you be glad of a point-outer who told you you'd left your card in the cashpoint, stubbornstains?

xylem8 · 26/07/2013 12:42

I think people are hot and cross at the moment

I am about 90% sure the Superdrug saga was during our prolonged winter Grin

But I do now think I know why shoe man was annoyed. He was with a group of business looking people (suits) and they were all striding about with a bit of a purpose. I think he was too shy to ask them to all stop whilst he did up his shoes, as he walked away they were slipping off him. He looked a little funny, they were striding, he was kinda hopping.

OP posts:
comedycentral · 26/07/2013 12:55

I may add that I didn't notice the hopping at first, I told him as I stopped behind him I only noticed after he snapped at me and I was stood there looking all Shock faced.

Crinkle77 · 26/07/2013 12:55

I was annoyed at some pensioner woman at the bus stop the other week. We were all queuing in a line and she told me my lace was undone which I thanked her for. Then while I was distracted doing it up she hopped ahead of me in the queue. I wouldn't mind if the queue was moving and me stooping down to tie my lace was getting in her way but she just wanted to get ahead of me.

comedycentral · 26/07/2013 13:05

Shock how crafty crinkle.

Although if I keep getting tuts and grumbles I may have to resort to cheeky tactics myself Grin

farrowandbawl · 26/07/2013 15:31

Too little manners and too much attitude.

I think everyone has had this happen to them at one time or another. It does get to you, especially when you are just minding your own business or trying to be helpful but you've just got to try and not to let it get to you. Easier said than done some days but it's either smile and ignore or don't bother trying to be helpful to anyone again, therefore adding to the problem.

WilsonFrickett · 26/07/2013 17:30

I once pointed out to a very well dressed woman (I'm pretty sure she and her family were off to a wedding) that the split of her very beautiful pale blue skirt was still stitched together with a giant orange cross and she was very grumpy.

But I would have been really cross if that had been me and no-one had pointed it out.

Madamecastafiore · 26/07/2013 17:33

I was told 'Fuck off you stuck up bitch' for saying an Italian word in the correct way to a work colleague. Only because if I had said something which was stupid I would wanted it pointed out although have been told not to do it in future and let people sound stupid or I risk offending them!!!

There you go we live and learn.

Hassled · 26/07/2013 17:37

I helpfully told the girl in front of me on the down escalator that the shop tags from her shirt were hanging down her back. She looked at me like I was insane, like that was how all the cool kids wore their shirts. That was me told.

SupermansBigRedPants · 26/07/2013 17:39

The world seems full of rude moody buggers recently :(

Justforlaughs · 26/07/2013 17:42

hassled that was because she had stolen them! Wink
