The reasons go on and on and on...

They stole fuel from a local filling station
They think its alright to call anyone who has a 4x4 'a murderer'
They hold protest marches that disrupt everyone else...
They broke into Aberdeen airport and lay on the runway...

Etc...

Yes but there are some who just sell nice washing up liquid.

ouryve · 24/07/2013 21:57

Is that individuals, or one homogeneous group that you're railing against? You know, like Mumsnetters are a homogeneous group.

Sunnysummer · 25/07/2013 10:46

YANBU. Stealing fuel from a local filling station is absolutely on par with increasing rates of natural disasters, massive impacts pop z z. C. ????

squoosh · 25/07/2013 10:51

Is 'Eco' an actual organisation or are you just talking about the radicalised fringes of the environmentally aware section of the population?

Hope you're not making wild generalisations, that would make you look ever so slightly dim.

quoteunquote · 25/07/2013 10:53

No one should care about the earth, it's so silly, when you could be doing your nails and reading hello magazine, bad people shoot them all.

Grin
PaulSmenis · 25/07/2013 10:55

I have friends that are 'eco people' and drive a 4x4. They like nice washing up liquid and organic veg.

Do you actually mean nutters, rather than people who want to make more environmentally friendly choices?

mynameisslimshady · 25/07/2013 10:55

They hold protest marches Shock

Utter, utter bastards Angry

DreamingofSummer · 25/07/2013 10:58

The woman from Friends of the Earth on the Today programme this morning was a total arse. She was talking about GM crops/foods and how they weren't sold in this country due to consumer choice.

Totally forgot to mention that the choice was very heavily influenced by the scare stories FoE put out.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/07/2013 11:02

You think they are bad? You don't know any vegans then. Arf.

CockyFox · 25/07/2013 11:05

YABU to be p'd off with everyone you judge to be eco, due to the acts of a few.

However, it is ok to be annoyed with the odd one, for example the man who cycles to school with his daughter both on the pavement with him shouting at all the people walking that we are ignorant and should make way for him because cyclists have priority as the rest of us clog up the road with our earth killing cars - yes whilst we are walking on the pavement.

Most people care about the environment and do their bit in their own way, without causing anyone any hassle.

IncrediblePhatTheInnkeepersCat · 25/07/2013 11:10

Cockyfox

Next time you see that man, you could get in first with "Do you know how much energy and resources went in to manufacturing that bike? Walk like the rest of us!" Wink

squoosh · 25/07/2013 11:10

Cyclists who cycle on the pavement are lower than pond life.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 25/07/2013 11:14

I don't know any Eco people

CockyFox · 25/07/2013 11:16

I am so going to say that incrediblephat

specialsubject · 25/07/2013 11:48

theft is theft, not protest.

bet they won't stop using the internet, which causes massive amounts of energy use due to all the servers.

AKAK81 · 25/07/2013 11:57

I take great pleasure in winding up eco mentalists.

Takver · 25/07/2013 12:05

I'm not sure where you meet 'eco people' who steal fuel - that sounds like a cover story to me if ever I heard one.

The 'eco people' I know

  • run a free 'cafe' for broke people using food they grow and collected short date stock from shops
  • campaign for allotments
  • organise a car share scheme that lets you rent a car very cheaply (the eco bit being that people won't need to run a / a 2nd car, but it helps anyone who can't afford one too)
  • run a beach clean up scheme
  • monitor wildlife & count dolphins

I think AKAK81 is absolutely justified in winding up such dreadful people who damage society in this way.

TheVermiciousKnid · 25/07/2013 12:12

Hope you're not making wild generalisations, that would make you look ever so slightly dim

Oops, too late.

Halfwaybetweensadandrage · 25/07/2013 12:27

I was going to come up with a reasoned response, then I realised that you're the Q7 person, & now I cba Grin

zatyaballerina · 25/07/2013 13:13

It pisses me off when the environment is used as an excuse to place taxes on people, raise the price of electricity and gas, raise money for wealthy private corporations, destroy the environment and kill birds with those hideous windfarms etc...Angry

The problem is rich people and their exploitation of anything they can use to steal our money to make more money for themselves.

AKAK81 · 25/07/2013 16:51

Its the people trying to ram their eco nuttiness down my throat who I enjoy winding up - usually by ramming my reasonably large carbon footprint down theirs.

PaulSmenis · 25/07/2013 17:15

Damn these eco nuts with their wild food foraging workshops, freecycling and biodynamic vegetables! It's a travesty I tell you!

VerySmallSqueak · 25/07/2013 17:20

You'd fucking hate me,Bobs me ol' love.....

I even restrain myself from using fly spray, and let people in my house suffer a veritable plague of flies, that's how hard core I am.

I even put some melon skins on the compost earlier.

I'm a bugger,for it,me.

PaulSmenis · 25/07/2013 18:23

You're public enemy #1 VerySmallSqueak.

It's only fair that the public knows how much of a dangerous extremist you are. Grin

VerySmallSqueak · 25/07/2013 19:01

Even I would draw the line at the rash extremism that the op is suggesting - like waving a banner or shouting loudly.

It'd be fucking stoopid to draw people's attention to the issue after all....Grin

If only they would protest quietly in their own front rooms, the fine upstanding members of society wouldn't have to stand by and tut loudly.
