The reasons go on and on and on...

They stole fuel from a local filling station
They think its alright to call anyone who has a 4x4 'a murderer'
They hold protest marches that disrupt everyone else...
They broke into Aberdeen airport and lay on the runway...

Etc...

I get them in my line of trade, telling me how evil palm oil is and how I'm scum for using it*. One even told me they would rather use cleansing (snort) SLS than vile palm oil. Funny she didnt reply when I pointed out that SLS comes from palm oil...

*it's eco friendly, sustainably farmed palm oil dontcha know...

soapysam · 25/07/2013 19:36

I tell you what really boils my piss though. Double standards. So-called Eco friendly companies that import from all over the bloody world when the same item can be bought not only in the same country, but likely the same county. What is the bloody point?

TiggyD · 25/07/2013 20:54

Anybody that refers to themselves as a' Radical whatever' is probably an arsehole.
People who believe that they're right and that gives them the moral right to do anything they want in thier cause are a thing.

VerySmallSqueak · 25/07/2013 21:10

Couldn't agree more Tiggy that people shouldn't feel they can do anything they want in the name of their cause.

But governments shouldn't be able to do anything they want without challenge.

TiggyD · 25/07/2013 21:25

But once somebody has the permission for something and the appeals against have been turned down? I'm not sure of the exact process of big schemes but I thought it was something like:
-Permission given by democraticly elected local council.
-Permission allowed by democratically elected government.
-Appeals turned down by independant inquireries as part of the judicial process created by democratically elected government.
Everybody involved in the procedure has been elected or is a reprisentative of an elected body. Apart from the Queen who gives ascent to laws. Once a decision has gone through the process any action against it is undemocratic.

MrsOakenshield · 25/07/2013 21:34

I don't get pissed off with Eco people.

I do get pissed off with people who drive mahoosive cars they can't park and then get all shirty when they're called out on it, though.

Just sayin'

maternitart · 25/07/2013 21:38

LOL

Who calls 4x4 owners murderers?

I swear under my breath every time I see a Porsche Cayenne, admittedly.

TiggyD · 25/07/2013 21:38

Yup. Double standards can be really annoying. Eco people with lots of children and dogs for instance.

PaulSmenis · 25/07/2013 22:02

Yes, but they can have lots of dogs and children because they have solar panels and an allotment. Apparently it neutralises their carbon wotsits.

VerySmallSqueak · 25/07/2013 22:04

But Tiggy, sometimes governments will take actions that are not lawful or that there is not consensus for within the general public.

Sometimes protest groups speak for those without a vote and a voice.

TiggyD · 25/07/2013 22:07

Who decides lawful?

VerySmallSqueak · 25/07/2013 22:23

International law.
The governments own laws.

It has been known for people to be arrested on a large scale for non- violent direct action under law that was,on challenge, not enforceable.

So,yes, there can be justification for good people breaking bad laws.

(Whispers) I've been cycling on the pavement! Please don't judge me - I feel bad enough...
DD2 (6) is getting faster and I can't keep up - so have just got a bike for me (hadn't ridden one for 20+yrs) .
DD2 is still a bit wobbly ... and so am I - keep trying to cycle in the road but don't think I'm safe -worse when trying to keep an eye on DD too - she fell into the road yesterday (narrow pavement) - especially on the way back from local shops (only pavement on one side)...have been off road too but think going to the shops is a way of getting frequent practise...and it is 'local' shops -butcher and part of the co-op group ...
I get her to stop for pedestrians ...and I go slowly behind her ...is that so bad ?
(BTW Someone told me the police said to her that they preferred DCs riding on the pavement until they are at least 10...)
My bike is second hand - 20 yo - and DD2s is DD1s old bike ...does that meet eco standards?
I also try to recycle and reuse everything too and buy eco friendly stuff, worry about food miles ....
Oh god - I am so going to get flamed on this thread...

PaulSmenis · 26/07/2013 07:57

unlucky, you sound positively evil! Why don't you cycle over to mine (on the pavement) and join me in a meal made from the organic, biodynamic vegetables in my veg box from a local food hub? We could eat it at my table that I got off freecycle.

Then we could wash up with my eco friendly washing up liquid.

MurderOfGoths · 26/07/2013 08:01

Cocky When I did my driving test there was a bloke outside the test centre who was riding circles around the learners while yelling abuse at them for polluting the environment, wonder if it's the same bloke?

rob99 · 26/07/2013 08:09

Please look out for cyclists.....as a cyclist I've noticed that blokes see you and don't give a shit and women just don't see you (plus they don't judge distances very well.....not being sexist, just my observations as I cling to life on our dangerous roads.

VerySmallSqueak · 26/07/2013 08:54

As a result of this thread I have spend all night dreaming that I have been doing environmental protests.
I then gave birth in a wooden tree house, like those used by the road protestors in the 90's.

It was all very exciting!
