HELP! Locked out of car

Posted here for the traffic - please help!

Locked out of car -07 Suzuki Grand Vitara - remote keys won't work - actual key won't work.

Any genius car people with an idea?

and in it for any mechanics/electrical folk with solution/s.

Might sound daft but try actual key again twice in quick succession.

would ye not be better off ringing a near by garage or someone in REAL LIFE that can help instead of an online forum? hope you get sorted soon.

Have you actually tried the key IN THE DOOR?

ANother silly one - but are you sure you are at the right car and not someone else's Suzuki?

If none of the keys are working it sounds like your central locking is fucked. You need a garage.

Has the battery in the remote key run out? Get a new battery. Or pop the real key out of it and try it in the door.

Definitely right car! On my drive! Unless brought wrong one home with me!

Thank you fluckered - just thought someone might have a bright idea that was simple instead of having the face from a garage person or AA man who always seems to make me feel about 2 years old.

Unfortunately, Binky is right, if the key in the door doesn't work, chances a re the relay for the central locking has gone. If you have homestart or similar, call AA

Our car used to only unlock with the key in the lock. And we had to unlock, lock, unlock without pausing or taking the key out.

I had a Jeep that used to lock me out on a regular basis, it turned out the actual fob was so old it just stopped working.
I think in that car the receiver for the fob was on the passenger side and if you pressed it there aiming towards the windscreen it would work.

Have you tried using the key on the passenger side?

Call the AA. At least you have a genuine fault, I managed to lock my 12mth old DD in the car with the keys. They could not have been kinder and didnt laugh at me although I deserved a good slap for giving DD the keys to play with in the first place! they got into the car in under a minute!
Does sound like the battery or CL is buggered. Call them now!

Do you have a lock thing on the inside that you push down to lock and pull up to open?

If you have then you can use a piece of that plastic strapping stuff that you find on parcels to get in. Fold it in half and push it down or sideways through the door join inside the car and hook it onto the lock and pull it up and you should get in in seconds.

BUT if the key is knackered then you won't be able to dis arm the immobiliser and start the engine

Try all the doors including the boot with the key.

Try the tennis ball trick (although I think cars don't respond to that any more).

Put the key under your chin and then press the plip.

Hold the key/remote to your head and then press the unlock button (helps if the battery is flat . . . no, really)

If the actual key doesn't work, there is most likely something properly wrong (or you could be really really stupid but that seems unlikely! :o)

We had similar on a fiesta and it was a properly flat battery... hope you get it sorted!

At least your 9 month old DS is not locked in the car. I did this with the keys inside the car, my bag with my phone was also in the car. I did have a spare car key but this was inside the house and my door key was in my bag in the car [shock

Then he stuck the key in the door and it opened

Had a look at battery in car and battery in key and said he had no clue what was wrong

Now I am looking for the folder with car instructions in which has gone AWOL

This never used to happen with horses and carts

Have you tried unlocking the passenger door? Or squirting wd40 in the lock.

Oh well, at least you're in. Hope you're not going anywhere you need to lock the doors again.

The plot thickens - took car to local car electrical place - both keys worked - remote and key-in-door

Brought it home - keys don't work

So - twilight zone for transmitter?
