DS is moaning about his duvet set AIBU

He says that a 14yr old having a McLaren Lewis Hamilton duvet set is vanquish and can he have another one please.
I SAY a grown man would want this set so he is being unreasonable.I then said I would ask mumsnet.AIBU.

Hmm, I bought my DS a 'grown up' navy, red and white striped set last year. It does sound a bit vanquish to me.

Ha. I got some replacement sheets for my ds a few weeks ago. I bought mid blue, the same as he had. Major stop. He wanted dark blue.
I really didn't think he would mind; I still choose his clothes (because he doesn't care, not because I am a control freak)

Is he asking you to replace a duvet cover he already has or have you just bought it?

Let him buy a set of his choice out of his own savings, earnings or pocket money?

Me too on the 'vanquish' - I was going to try dropping it in to conversation with my young friends to impress them. Good job I saw the correction before making even more of a twat of myself. I would say it depends how long he has had them. If he has had them for years and has outgrown his interest in F1, then YABU, but if he only asked for them a few months ago the n YANBU. I do think that 'themed' bed clothes do become babyish at some point, but it depends what he wants to replace them...?

Tell him to consider himself lucky,I still used a Telly Tubbies one for my son until he was 11 (granted,it was only as a 'spare' but still [grin ]

Ok just to clarify its an oldish set as Lewis is not McLaren anymore .Plus I was advised many years ago to not buy teenage boys dark blue sheets .I will let you work out why for yourselves.
I'm thinking light blue .Lol

Your son's opinion is pretty much the same as my son's. He abandoned Star Wars/Doctor Who duvet covers (and t-shirts) about a year ago. Luckily they were looking a bit tired to me anyway, so I got him something much plainer - along the loines of this.

I would not count a man who wanted such a bedset to be a GROWN man, TBH. More of an manchild IMO.

I bought a Mr Men duvet cover as it is the coolest thing ever, in preparation for when my as yet unborn baby progresses to a duvet. It is currently on DD's bed and will be washed and then put on DS's. They are 9 and 7! They must be well vanquish!

Agree with the others, get him some boring plain ones.

YABU. After age of 12 ish, I think character/merchandise duvets are a bit babyish. Until he's at university and it becomes retro/ironic.
