To be disappointed that a thread was deleted

DryCounty79 · 14/06/2013 16:45

Before I got to finish reading it? It seems it was a previously banned poster who was pretending to be her own friend. Was enjoying reading through but it was deleted in the middle of my reading.

I'm NOT disagreeing with the deletion! Just my giant nose has been put out Grin

Always click 'show all messages' Wink

DryCounty79 · 14/06/2013 16:53

Ooh didn't know about that! Thanks Smile

Actually I can't see that option (no surprise as I'm incredibly unobservant), is it only available on the full website? I'm on my mobile...

I was enjoying that thread, too. Such creative spelling in the OP.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 14/06/2013 16:55

Oh yes, I was on a roll.

DramaAlpaca · 14/06/2013 16:57

I was enjoying it too. It was just getting going.

BackforGood · 14/06/2013 16:58

I don't know about that thread, but do wish there was some sort of notification about threads that are deleted. Sometimes there seems to be, and then others not. I posted something on a thread before going to bed the other night, then, after work the next day, it wasn't on my 'threads I'm on' and it's really infuriating not knowing what happened to it when you are as nosy as I am. I have no idea why it would be contentious.

MardyBra · 14/06/2013 17:00

Just logged in. Who was it then?

PMs gratefully accepted.

LostInWales · 14/06/2013 17:05

Not sure about mobile, are you on the app or just opening it as normal but on a phone? If there is more than one page on the normal version then there will be a 'show all messages' option. The mobile app just adds more posts as you scroll down. You'll just have to open juicy threads in safari not the app Smile

DryCounty79 · 14/06/2013 17:18

Lost, I've just discovered it on a thread with more than one page of posts, thank you. I'm opening it as normal but on the phone. I dare not get the app as I spend too much time on here already! Blush

I agree they should announce deletion before it happens so we have a chance to open it and keep it open till we're done Grin

Mardy, I don't know the name but she was saying her friend had posted twice about not knowing the father of her child or something, and she felt it was unfair her friend was blocked for it.
I got the impression the original posts/threads were particularly goady, or she was doing something called sockpuppeting? Is that the correct term? Anyway, it was getting interesting but when I went to the next page, it had been deleted.

RoooneyMara · 14/06/2013 17:22

Oh I missed another one. What is with all the deletions today?

Jengnr · 14/06/2013 17:23

Ah balls. I was going to go back to that one too Grin

Did anyone explain what sockpuppeting is and can they again please?

RoooneyMara · 14/06/2013 17:24

It is when you post pretending to be someone else, on your own thread, or someone else's, as well as using your usual name.

RoooneyMara · 14/06/2013 17:25

Or in fact I suppose it could be starting threads claiming not to be the person you usually are - different to namechanging for privacy/other reasons.

fabergeegg · 14/06/2013 21:27

Something I find incredibly irritating is being barred entry to the site without explanation. You get on the wrong side of a group of posters, they find some small discrepancy and report you ostensibly for that, you're out of Mumsnet on your ear.

HintofBream · 15/06/2013 08:21

Where is the 'show all messages' button please?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/06/2013 08:29

Oh dear fabergeegg, website owners invoking their own policies. Shocking. [sarcastic face]

JoyMachine · 15/06/2013 08:45

faberge- I have found MN to be pretty reticent when it comes to banning.
Maybe it was something you said?

RoooneyMara · 15/06/2013 08:51

Well Faberge I'd imagine they have their reasons. But you seem to have got back in anyway Smile

I'm always on the wrong side of someone or other and weirdly haven't had that happen so far. Maybe it depends what you say/do. You could always email MNHQ for an explanation?

RoooneyMara · 15/06/2013 08:54

OTOH if you really didn't do anything wrong then keep protesting.

I find there is very little worse than being falsely accused of whatever.

whatshallwedo · 15/06/2013 08:58

I think there should be a section on here for deleted threads like there is for classic threads. They should be frozen so no more posts can be added but then nosy people like me could read them instead of always missing them Grin .

differentnameforthis · 15/06/2013 11:02

You need to adjust your settings to allow you to see threads as one whole page, not lots of smaller ones.

oh thanks for that Differentnameforthis x

differentnameforthis · 15/06/2013 11:10

You're welcome.

JessicaBeatriceFletcher · 15/06/2013 11:20

Maybe the threads could be blocked, with a message saying why, but still left up to be read for amusement purposes, rather than just totally deleted?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 15/06/2013 11:22

These PBP'S are a busy bunch.
