A car overtook me on a dangerous bend yesterday and then whizzed off down the road at top speed. As it overtook me I could see a 'Baby on Board' sticker on the back window Shock.

Presume it's only their 'baby on board' whose safety we need to show regard for, everyone else's is fair game. Hmm

AIBU to think that if you insist on displaying one of these stickers you should bloody show a bit of courtesy and consideration to other road users as well?

Anybody with a BOB sticker is a knobber so to presume otherwise is U.

Arabesque · 12/06/2013 11:15

ps I'm assuming their own baby wasn't 'on board' at the time (I hope so, anyway!).

I bloody hate those car stickers anyway. Oh & don't get me started on the "princess on board" bollocks.

YANBU

Buzzardbird · 12/06/2013 11:17

Those stickers are horrendous and always make me think of 'Iron on board'

1Veryhungrycaterpillar · 12/06/2013 12:05

I saw a car at the lights yesterday with 3 kids in the back, one was a baby and both the mum and dad were smoking. My mum used to but don't we know better now

Yesterday a knob in a range rover parked about three inches from me!!

He had a chihuahua on board sign!!

My very polite note might have told him what a knob he was!

I also photographed it for fb!!!

Arabesque · 12/06/2013 13:44

I've seen cars with a 'Baby on Board' Sticker, a 'Little Princess on Board' sticker and a 'Toddler on Board' sticker all lined up on the back window.
Yeah, we get it. You've got kids. Get over yourself!

Oh, and I also saw a car with a 'Yummy Mummy on Board' sticker. (Boak)

"And "Powered by Fairy Dust" car decals should be made a criminal offence... and eyelashes on cars as well (both fairly common around here)"

I want a pink or silver car with eyelashes and butterflies/birds/hearts Blush.

If i could afford two cars, i would have one, i could not use my "cutie" car at work. She would be my little hunni, for the weekends.

Arabesque · 12/06/2013 13:58

Oh my sweet....... Shock

How about "No Baby on Board, Feel Free to Ram" as an alternative?

AKAK81 · 12/06/2013 15:14

I find that all of these signs serve as a warning to other road users that the car will be badly driven, especially if the car is an mpv of some kind. I generally give them a wide berth!

Arabesque · 12/06/2013 15:41

I have heard people explain, in all seriousness, that these signs are to alert other road users to the fact that the driver might become distracted by the children in the car so to be extra careful when driving around them!! Why is it okay to drive unsafely as long as you have warned other drivers that this might be the case Confused.

YANBU at all.

Another utterly stupid one is: "I slow down for horses"

Presumably everyone else on the road can go to hell?

CandidaDoyle · 12/06/2013 15:56

My MIL used to have a sticker in the back of her car smugly proclaiming "I ALWAYS stick to the speed limit".

Then one day she got pulled over for going over the limit. The police officer could barely contain his glee as he said "Well madam, I think you're going to have to remove that sticker now......"

HeffalumpTheFlump · 12/06/2013 16:03

I think iv missed something here.. I am planning on using a baby on board sign when my baby gets here. I thought the whole idea was to get the person behind you to not follow ridiculously closely, which obviously increases the risk of them going into the back of you. Isn't that a good idea? Why would that make me a nobber?

Fakebook · 12/06/2013 16:07

I saw a "boobies on board" sticker in a car once. Classy.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 12/06/2013 16:09

By the way completely agree with the OP, it makes me really cross when I see people with the signs driving like dickheads.

50shadesofvomit · 12/06/2013 16:14

You'd be a knob because the signs are saying that you are more important than other cars on the road. Most drivers drive with a suitable separation distance regardless of whether the car in front has passengers in the back.

AKAK81 · 12/06/2013 16:17

Heffa - a baby on board sign or lack of it has no effect on my desire to run into you. I (and I assume most road users) try my hardest to avoid hitting other vehicles regardless of occupants.

50shadesofvomit · 12/06/2013 16:17

X-post definitely a correlation between bad driving and bob signs. Does everyone need to know you managed to conceive a child?

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 12/06/2013 16:18

I'm always glad when I see a baby on board sigh because otherwiseI was going to ram my car into yours and run you off the road. But since you have a baby in the car, I wont.

Fucking stupid.

Eyelashes on cars give me the rage. As do stupid body kits and drainpipe exhausted on your fugly boyracer shitmobile.
