To complain about my bikini wax?

I had a Brazilian wax for the first time today (have only normally gone for a bit of a tidy up in the past). It was a bit bloody painful to say the least but I put it down to me being a bit less than groomed down there so put up and shut up. I came home and had a shower and nearly hit the roof when the water hit my severely pruned lady garden!! I got a mirror and inspected and my inner lips are actually a bit torn and bleeding! I have applied sudocrem and hoping it will all settle down but surely that is not acceptable??

I feel I should go back to the salon and complain but I have had the therapist who did the waxing a few times now for other stuff and I don't want to get her into trouble and I would also like to be able to use the salon again. What to do?

your inner lips?! You don't have hair on you inner lips do you, so she shouldn't have waxed them. Definitely complain. Or do you mean the inside of your outer lips?

On another note, I thought you weren't meant to shower for 24 hours after waxing?

Your poor fanjo!

LaurieFairyCake · 07/06/2013 21:47

There is no polite way to ask this so apologies.

I don't have Brazilians or any vigorous waxing because your skin becomes less firm due to having children, being old or being overweight (or having stretched skin from growing quickly or have been overweight).

So if your skin is less than firm (like mine) it's really difficult to just pull the hair without pulling the skin.

Sorry Blush

If you're a 21 year old model with firm vulva, ignore Wink

I had laser on the inner lips, there are hairs there. I hated waxing, found it painful and was often bruised. Now hair free and was much better because was done by a health professional

Furry fanjos rool!

shallweshop · 07/06/2013 21:58

Fatima - yes, more like inside of outer lips.
Laurie - you are absolutely right - I am definitely too old and not firm enough. I think I have learned an important lesson today!
Theodora - laser sounds like a good way forward.

You should definitely complain! Bad bikini waxes can leave you susceptible to some nasty infections.

Don't worry about getting her in trouble I didn't complain about about a beautician that burnt me and stupidly saw her again it wasn't a once off.

shallweshop · 07/06/2013 22:01

LaQueen - she asked me to hold my skin taught but think I am just not firm enough down there. Won't be doing it again!

Hi

When my usual salon was closed I went to different one for my.brazillian - huge mistake. She left me very bruised. A good was takes time, they should be getting you to pull the skin tight while they wax and your therapist should be applying pressure after each strip. Also never get it done before your period as its way more sore. You can also apply scream cream befote hand.

I did lots of reseach when I moved and found a great salon by word of mouth.

shallweshop · 07/06/2013 22:03

Malcolm - loving the term growler Grin

Theodora Is laser pain free and permanent? (Getting excited!).

Or is it pain-ish, expensive and lasts for a bit?

Have a Leo Sayer like me. Don't do it to yourself.

theodorakisses · 07/06/2013 22:23

Laser is permanent and was very painful when I used the Elma cream which is the same as when children have blood taken. However as an ex nurse, I knew that was 5% and lidocaine throat spay is 10% and after that was ok. Even so, still a million times less painful than waxing apart from the bum hole area. (Sorry if tmi) but it is like having a tattoo, I now have no hair and will never get it back which is fine because I am old but is absolutely final so must be a decision not to be taken lightly.

theodorakisses · 07/06/2013 22:24

Was about 150 pounds a month for 6 month but then that's it, no need to ever go again. I am dark and she said I was stubborn

CAF275 · 07/06/2013 22:25

Big mistake having a shower within a few hours of getting waxed. I've been badly bruised in the past by allowing complete incompetents near my nether regions, but different situation from this.

If you have a shower in the morning, go for wax at some point during the day, you shouldn't shower again until the next day. Trust me, this makes a big difference.

It's always painful btw but showering too soon afterwards is probably what made it look/feel so awful, but it will calm down.

shallweshop · 07/06/2013 22:31

CAF275 - I had to shower as I still had loads of sticky wax stuck to me and felt really uncomfortable.

Well, I reckon I might consider laser round the edges, actually, if that's possible. I've only ever tried waxing once (honeymoon) and that was simply a 'tidy up' rather than a full Brazilian or anything. I can't shave without looking as though I have herpes. And usually settle for a quick Immac round the sides if I'm going to be appearing in a swimming costume. A kind of permanent neat triangle would do me very nicely, if one can do that. Thanks Theo for the info.

deleted203 · 07/06/2013 22:42

Oh. x post with chinley. Might not, then. Not if I have to keep returning. Will possibly make enquiries, however. Although pretty put off by the 'extremely painful' bit Grin.

CAF275 · 07/06/2013 22:42

Sorry folks - didn't mean to post twice! Blush

theodorakisses · 07/06/2013 22:43

Mine was done by a dermatologist not a beautician and was utterly permanent

Shitsinger · 07/06/2013 22:45

Im feeling rather faint !

hotwax is applied to your bits ,ripped off and you wonder why its sore
