To complain about my bikini wax?

shallweshop · 07/06/2013 21:41

I had a Brazilian wax for the first time today (have only normally gone for a bit of a tidy up in the past). It was a bit bloody painful to say the least but I put it down to me being a bit less than groomed down there so put up and shut up. I came home and had a shower and nearly hit the roof when the water hit my severely pruned lady garden!! I got a mirror and inspected and my inner lips are actually a bit torn and bleeding! I have applied sudocrem and hoping it will all settle down but surely that is not acceptable??

I feel I should go back to the salon and complain but I have had the therapist who did the waxing a few times now for other stuff and I don't want to get her into trouble and I would also like to be able to use the salon again. What to do?

I used to be a beauty therapist

I have to admit I once burnt someone legs slightly :( but never torn skin. You should say something. You should complain she is doing something wrong. Bikini waxing is tricky at times. I never waxed everything off and you need to be trained to do this (was not the thing in the 90's ony once asked and I declined as I really did not know what to do)

shallwe shop - rub lots of moisturiser on if your still "sticky". Works like a dream.

I still remember trying a DIY bikini wax and quite happily smeared a ton of the stuff on to the necessary area, only to find I actually COULD NOT inflict that level of pain on myself and pull the strips off. Bit of a dilemma as I had half a pound of wax smeared all over my lady parts. Smearing with lots of moisturiser and wiping off a few times got rid of the lot, thankfully! Stick to self waxing legs only these days!

CAF275 · 07/06/2013 22:51

Oops - you're

RevoltingPeasant · 07/06/2013 22:56

Oh my God. Nobody is getting near my batcave after this.

This thread has been very educational...

DingbatsFur · 07/06/2013 22:58

Why oh why would you pay someone to laser your bits?
We are mammals after all.

theodorakisses · 07/06/2013 23:01

It will never be possible to explain to non hair removing people why I do any more than you could understand me. It is down to personal taste, is deeply personal and either way should not be judged.

Kittykatmoll · 07/06/2013 23:34

My experience with both electrolysis and laser treatment is that neither provide permanent hair removal, just medium term reduction.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/06/2013 00:09

I think the thing is that there aren't enough hands between the two of you to pull skin entirely taught as skin pulls in 4 different directions.

Besides, I couldn't reach easily to pull my skin taught Grin as you can't see all the way round and its really fucking awkward.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/06/2013 00:09

taut not taught. Ffs.

EleanorFarjeon · 08/06/2013 00:49

Was it hot wax or warm wax? Only hot wax should be used for Brazilians ie no strips.

I never ever have any wax residue left after mine, or soreness.

I don't think it's anything to do with tautness. They can wax scrotums ffs!

reelingintheyears · 08/06/2013 01:16

YIKES

This is why i won't let anyone oter than DP anywhere near my downstairs department.

reelingintheyears · 08/06/2013 01:18

OTHER

No otters are allowed there either

shallweshop · 08/06/2013 14:32

Reeling - laughing my head off at otters!!

Fanjo feels better today but have well and truly satisfied my curiosity about having a Brazilian. Will just stick to short back and sides from now on!!

You should get straight back to the salon and demand a refund. Leaving you sticky with wax is a sign of a bad waxer, and as for breaking the skin! That should NEVER happen.

Mia4 · 08/06/2013 16:53

OP, take pictures of it (nt for smutty purposes), then go and complain to the salon. It sounds like she was either inexperienced or in a rush and botched it. Seconding the moisturiser idea, or a very very tepid bath, not warm of hot but tepid. A hot/warm shower can aggravate due to heat plus the force of the drops on your skin,

hermioneweasley · 08/06/2013 16:57

I had a friend who ended up in out of hours clinic due to a botched home bikini wax.

shallweshop · 09/06/2013 20:52

Thanks Holla & Mia - I feel too embarrassed to go back tbh! As for taking photos Blush.

I maybe wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not! What I think a lot of you are describing is IPL, which is a permanent REDUCTION of hair. If you are having your treatments done by a beautician in a salon they are only allowed to offer IPL (but are probably advertising it as laser.) If you pay more and go to a clinic/hospital/dermatoligist, you will receive laser treatment which IS permanent.

HTH.

ladypete · 05/12/2013 07:40

Or a dermatologist perhaps...

maybefaraway · 05/12/2013 08:41

Just me that shaves then? I get no rash/pain and can shave as much/little as I wish effortlessly. Is there a reason I should start waxing instead? I feel pressure to do so, but not sure why. Have I an insensitive fanjo then, to be razor happy?

whois · 05/12/2013 08:45

Echo other comments - stip waxing is more likely to bruise/bleed than hot wax. You shouldn't shower, or get hot and sweaty that day really. Being old or fat makes it a lot harder to do a gentle job as the skin isn't as tight.

Does sound like she did a bad job, my sympathies.

VivaLeBeaver · 05/12/2013 08:46

I shave.

Leg waxing is bad enough, no way am I having my fanjo waxed.

moogy1a · 05/12/2013 08:51

Do people not get embarrassed pulling their bits taut and having everything on show to some beauty therapist.
I'm happy with my Jackson 5 look and the occasional trim with nail scissors.

theyoniwayisnorthwards · 05/12/2013 08:54

ROAR at bat-cave!

That said, this has put me off waxing forever. I have the boots home ipl laser thing. It was about £300 and it works so long as I top it up regularly. Which I don't. Tiny little window so big areas like legs are time consuming. I have big hair-free patches though. Be good if you were committed.
