To think that MNetting is sooooo much easier when using a proper keyboard?

Since getting my ipad, and then discovering that I can MNet from my iphone, I rarely sit at my desk with my keyboard where I can happily bash out long posts with lots of crossing outs and bolds and Grin Wink Confused emoticons.

My posts have got increasingly shorter as I can't be arsed with all that finger tapping, and oh the bizarre corrections these new fangled gadgets make.

Those of you who use your phones and tablets all the time, how do you manage such long and interesting posts?

Or am I just an old fogey?

i have a nokia from the dark ages I cant do anything on it so I am always tap tapping away, I can see mumsnet from my phone but \I wouldnt be able to post

Bunbaker · 07/06/2013 17:23

I really can't be bothered to MN from my phone. Besides the screen is too small. I much prefer using my laptop.

UniqueAndAmazing · 07/06/2013 17:25

yes, yes it is.
I hate replying on my tablet

Quenelle · 07/06/2013 17:26

I usually just don't post if I'm on my phone. It's too much like hard work.

Pascha · 07/06/2013 17:28

I too don't bother posting much from my phone. It takes forever to load anything over about a hundred posts anyway so I stick to short threads in the depths of the night when feeding. I save all the chatting for the couple of times a day when I am free to use the laptop in peace, such as now Grin

CustardOmlet · 07/06/2013 17:33

Feeding DS now while reading on my phone, takes forever to reply!

StuntGirl · 07/06/2013 17:55

I dunno, I'm pretty quick at typing on my phone to be honest. Obviously typing on a laptop is easier, but it doesn't bother me to do it on my phone.

Sparklingbrook · 07/06/2013 17:57

YANBU. i tried on DS's I Pad. It was painful, and difficult and stressful.

TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 07/06/2013 18:00

YABU. I love my IPad. It's smaller (a mini) but it's easier to type (and I can touch type etc; so a keyboard is fine) and you don't need to do shifts etc; and I just love typing on here! So simple, so quick!

RoooneyMara · 07/06/2013 18:04

I'm the same as you Exit. I cannot conceive of how people actually manage to type on those things let alone quickly.

I have a desktop and I won't be parted from it Smile

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 18:32

You touch type on your ipad Shock

I always have a drink in one hand.......

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 18:38

Is that the real you rooney or t'other one?

OP posts:
MardyBra · 07/06/2013 18:41

If I'm starting a proper thread I'll use my computer. If I'm just lurking or making the odd comment, then the ipad will do.

MardyBra · 07/06/2013 18:41

I can sort of touch type of the ipad but it always goes wrong.

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 18:43

Do you start improper threads then MaryZ?

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 18:44

Shit. Mardy

OP posts:
RoooneyMara · 07/06/2013 18:45

LOL Grin

I just read the thread and found out the other one was interested in erm, 'marmite' Shock

Oh dear

I will never live it down!!!

RoooneyMara · 07/06/2013 18:45

Btw I find the coffee holder on the desktop very useful.

BOF · 07/06/2013 18:46

Shame you don't have an android phone/tab with swiftkey. It guesses your next word from your previous one(s). And it learns. I keep thinking it'll start calling me Dave.

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 19:11

I think I would see that as a bit of a challenge coal and try to befuddle it. Like beating the sat nav.

OP posts:
CoalDustWoman · 07/06/2013 19:17

It's astounding. Like the sat nav, it's impossible to game. I have saved 54,000 key strokes since April, apparently.

I get what you mean, though. (it guessed that last sentence).

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 19:18

54,000!

CoalDustWoman · 07/06/2013 19:56

I know! I'm not even that prolific anywhere. I guess it's counting as if i had no prediction, but still.

I've just bought a Transformer Infinity for work. Will be interesting to see how much I use the keyboard.

Soz - i'm spreading geek about a bit liberally.

UniqueAndAmazing · 08/06/2013 10:32

i've got the Thumb Keyboard on mine.
it's an android, so don't know if it works for ipads.
it's great.

(but as i'm lefthanded, it's never perfect - the direction of the screen vs my pressure means that when i type one-handed, i end up with odd letters on the right hand side of the keyboard.
