to think the new look BT Vision is absolute pants?

Admittedly I'm still hacked off that they unilaterally wiped all DD's and my favourite recordings before the switchover, but there seems to be far fewer programmes available on the catch up service. The BBC IPlayer is far more clunky and less user friendly. The on demand section for kids doesn't seem to have so much on it either.

The only thing it seems to have in abundance is BGT Biscuit

Just me then?

I haven't seen a change as yet, is this something they are rolling out across the country?

duffybeatmetoit · 06/06/2013 08:14

We got a new look on 30th May. We had a few messages saying that it was going to be much better and would be suggesting (Amazon stylee) other programmes you would want to watch/record based on everything you do after the switchover.

Ooh, not had this yet, will be interesting to see.

rubiesandpearls · 06/06/2013 16:40

Ooh what are the sport channels like?
We have Sky but the BT adverts on sport make it look so much better!

Ihatemytoes · 06/06/2013 17:15

Sport doesn't go live til 1st August.

VerySmallSqueak · 06/06/2013 17:19

I was gutted to lose a few of my recordings, and distinctly unimpressed with the new offering.

I think it's a step backwards rather than a step forwards.

I did like putting together a playlist though .

JakeBullet · 06/06/2013 17:23

Ooh, I haven't got any of this as yet.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 06/06/2013 17:23

I was initially not very impressed with the new look. It crashed 4 - 6 times a day, failed to record anything, froze and blocked us from items we should be able to view as we are on a full access deal (I think platinum?!).
Then we got up graded to BT Infinity for free, and it works a lot better. It doesn't crash any more, it is faster and it now records.

I was not impressed with them deleting everything though.
I also agree there seems to be a lot less in the catch up section which is odd, and yes BBC Iplayer is more difficult. YANBU.

Sallystyle · 06/06/2013 17:28

YANBU

It is awful.

The kids used to watch a lot of stuff for free and now they are bloody charging £1.00 for the programmes we have been watching free for years.

It crashes all the darn time as well. I really need to call them and complain. We hate it.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 06/06/2013 17:32

Noooo you're all scaring me, mine hasn't upgraded yet.

rubiesandpearls · 06/06/2013 17:36

Oh thankyou Toes!

OrangeFireandGoldashes · 06/06/2013 17:48

YADDDDDNBU.

I. Hate. It.

It's slower to react to the remote, it freezes at random, it goes into standby in the middle of a programme, the on-screen TV guide is MUCH harder to read if you're short-sighted (we only have a 24" TV, but I could read the old guide perfectly well), if using the guide to choose another channel you now have to press twice to change rather than once, there's much less on catch-up, finding/using i-Player is a palaver where it used to be just choosing another channel and we lost all our recordings, including my recording of Kauto Star winning his fifth and final King George VI chase which was recorded from live TV and not replaceable.

Did I mention that I. Hate. It?

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 06/06/2013 17:57

All those PP who say it is freezing and crashing, are you on BT infinity yet?
We were offered it for free, (originally they were going to charge £6 a month extra!) about 3 weeks ago. We had that installed and now our BT vision is miles better.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 06/06/2013 18:11

littleprincess I'm on infinity and ours still crashes.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 06/06/2013 18:18

I would give them a ring then Frustrated. After we switched over we rang to discuss the issues, and within 10 minutes of us ringing the nice lady we spoke to had fixed the issue to do with crashing.

VerySmallSqueak · 06/06/2013 18:49

I thought the failure to react to the remote was that the batteries were running out so I replaced them, and then thought I maybe needed to get better quality batteries as the remote was still not responding.
So I'm not the only one.

Even my DD's have asked if we're going to keep BT vision if it keeps doing that.

It's a PITA.

I don't want to phone and get given an upgrade if I only get it for a few months and then have to pay extra for it.

Even when the remote does respond I find it a whole lot less user friendly.
I'm so cross I lost my recordings for this shower of shite that I didn't even ask for.

Samu I hadn't noticed that yet with the kids programmes - I'll have to keep a close eye on what they're doing as I'll throw a loop if I end up with a huge bill because of pay per views.

Dawndonna · 06/06/2013 19:12

Changed provider because it was so pants.

Indith · 06/06/2013 19:19

We got a youview box and I love it. We use all the catch up services through that. It brings up vision content when you search for stuff but I don't think we've actually used any of it yet, just use 4od and iplayer and stuff. We can access the Vision menu separately but I did that once and it seemed really difficult to search so I just use the youview menu instead.

I should point out that we don't pay for our vision so I don't feel a great loss! (employee deal). We used to have problems with it though with the old box. even when we upgraded to infinity the iplayer kept crashing, when we paid to streama film we abandoned as it kept freezing. It was horrible. The youview box is fab and doesn't crash or freeze at all. I wonder if perhaps the older vision boxes can't actually cope with the new content and fast internet speeds.

Youview menu is not nice to read though, I really struggle and I only jsut got new glasses so my prescription is definitely up to date!

QueenMaeve · 06/06/2013 19:50

Hate it here too, we all shout at the tv now telling it how rubbish it is

Smize · 06/06/2013 20:14

Hate it! The menus aren't very intuitive, BBC i player doesn't work at all for us now, fewer shows on catch up (used to use it to watch corrie in bulk but now only seems to be one episode there at a time) and it wiped all our recordings a week before we got the letter saying it was going to do so. Not impressed. On the bright side, it reacts slightly better to our remote control now. Waiting for sky to come out with their autumn/winter deals and it'll be bye bye BT vision.

Sallystyle · 06/06/2013 20:22

I wonder if I am on something else now.

I got a phone call saying I could upgrade my box and get more channels for an extra £2 a month.

The layout is very different and all the free programmes now cost so I am not saving money at all.

Perhaps it wasn't the new BT vision that is the problem with the extra cost of programmes?

I have been meaning to call them for ages to complain. I am on Infinity but it takes ages for the box to respond.

If no one else is being charged to watch all the kids programmes then perhaps it is just the package they changed me too, but they never mentioned that and assured me the deal was great but the new channels I have are crap and I want my old ones back so my kids can watch Dora for free Grin

If they don't sort it out I will leave and go with Sky.

Sallystyle · 06/06/2013 20:24

changed me to* not too

Sorry for poorly worded post.

duffybeatmetoit · 06/06/2013 20:36

Not having to pay for Vision Kids yet but if that happens that's game over for BT.

OP posts:
duffybeatmetoit · 07/06/2013 14:46

Watching Location, location on catch up last night the suggested "programmes like this" included a documentary about Hitler! The suggestions amounted to all the shows available on 4OD catchup now that there is so little available.

I'm assuming the sudden drop in content is down to BT licensing fewer programmes in order to offset the cost of acquiring all this extra sport.
