to think £65 for sandals is taking the piss?

Been looking online for a nice pair of sandals for summer. The pair that I like are nothing fancy, just a toe post, strap and heel cover. They are leather. Everything else seems to be covered in sparkly embellishments which dont float my boat or are disgusting colours.

£65 for basically a couple of straps, a buckle and sole. Not designer, just high street name. Or am I just turning into my Dad tight fisted?

I don't think it's that expensive. About 3 years ago I bought some Kurt Geiger plain leather sandal for £105, I walked miles and miles and miles in them every summer since, they've really lasted and still look good.

YANBU the price of all shoes is taking the piss.
Almost £50 for school shoes, ankle boots that cost as much as long ones and £65 for sandals that were £30 two years ago.

It's taking the piss. I have a pair of Clarks that I have walked and walked in over the years and they cost £25 from the outlet store.

I point blank refuse to spend that sort of money on a bit of shoe leather.

I saw some lovely £60ish sandals last week, my immediate reaction was too expensive, but I so rarely find sandals I like, I've just binned a pair I loved that after years have fallen apart..

I have had this conversation lots today, I wouldn't dream of spending that amount of money on any paid of shoes because I ruin them so quickly and today me and my mum were shopping and she bought a pair of basic dolly pump style shoe (they were comfy but very plain) for £75!!! Crazy I think but she can afford it and said she will wear them all the time and they will should last as they were good quality.

I couldn't and wouldn't even consider spending that on sandals but if you can afford them and think they'd be useful, it's up to you.

Now they are charging £35-45 for a pair of child's shoes, they have to differentiate the adult ones by charging £65. I just can't bring myself to pay that for a plain old pair of high street sandals- at least with boots you feel you are getting your money's worth, leatherwise.

Wonder I think the brown is quite nice, and the turquoise. They're not really my style but I think it's good they aren't completely flat, plus look really comfy. I'd say they look good value for money.

I'm currently waiting for my Swedish Hasbeens to turn up, am quite excited.

I think the thing with the price is it is totally dependant on what you can afford, I would spend £65 on a top so it makes sense to spend that on sandals that you would get more wear out of.

I would if they were exactly what I wanted. When you think about cost per wear over 3 or 4 years? etc I don't think it's too much (if youhcan afford it). Buy cheap buy twice and all that

Sounds reasonable to me. I nearly bought a pair of casual cork heel/soled mules today but told myself I didn't go out to buy shoes but on rreflection they were really nice, really comfy and quite modern for me. If john lewis hadn't been busy and hadn't had that awful ticket system going I would have tried on. Will phone tomorrow to see if they have the white in a 5. The black was perfect on my right foot. They were 80 btw. And no I don't think 65 is taking the piss - not if you like them, they are comfy and versatile.

I paid stupid money on my 5yo's school shoes and trainers recently, is it just me who finds expensive shoes fit better?

I paid £5 for some solid-foam-y ones. They have a bumpy bit under foot too which makes them really comfy and have lasted years. Beats paying over the odds for leather!

Plenty is that you mum?! I'm the child you had in 72' I know it gets confusing what with the other 7, but I showed you these sandals last weekend and now you keep crowing about how X (my sis) wants these clog sandals but you had a pair just like them although yours were a bit nicer FFS!!!!! I joke, but yeah I really like that they have that 70s feel to them, I think they go with lots of dresses I've bought for this summer which are from my memories a bit seventies in length (mid calf)

Thanks wonder I'm really long forward to wearing them and good for you, it's always lovely to have lovely things.

£65 sounds like the going rate to me. Unfortunately my feet have a preference for wide, dull, and comfortable footwear with a substantail price tag. Expecting a combnatiion of wide, comfortable and attractive footwear with a modest prictag would be unreassonabe.
