To think people should wash their hands?

In a restaurant with dd at lunch time. I took her to the toilet and a woman took her ds at the same time. We came out of the cubicle first and were hand washing when they came out and walked straight out in to the restaurant.

They sat back at their table and proceeded to eat lunch

Before anyone days it, they didn't use any anti bac gel or wipes either.

So AIBU? Is this the new thing?

I don't think there is anything new about it!

Some people always wash their hands,some people sometimes wash their hands ,some people never bother.

No unfortunately it's nothing new.
Why do we have such horrendous MRSA rates ?

I'm an NHS worker and when I'm out IRL (ie not at work) I'm very judgey if I see someone not washing.

Loads of people don't wash their hands. Can't think about it too much as who knows if the restaurant waiters/chef have good hygiene habits.

Can you get or spread MRSA from having a piss and managing not to wipe yourself with the back of your hand? I just don't get this. It's what toilet paper is for. And actually - is MRSA destroyed by using skanky soap from a skanky dispenser that is no doubt rimming with skanky germs from the skank-ridden hands of the skanks previous to you? Or does MRSA require a slightly more hardcore antibac wash?

OK, you press the skanky dispenser, get the non-skanky soap out then wash your hands. So, germs from the skanky dispenser are now down the drain or dead.

Washing your hands after pissing (if that's what they were doing) is a good idea because 1) it is a habit. We piss a few times a day so hands would get washed a few times a day 2) pissing is not all people do in the toilet so a good idea to wash hands after touching poo covered handles, doors, fittings.

What if you do as I do? I don't touch a thing in any loo. I have it down to a fine art. Plus I don't touch myself at all. And I avoid skanky aforementioned soap/soap dispensers? Lastly I use a wad of tissue to pull the main door open...and shoulder it coming in.

I was once at a cheese factory (with shop and restaurant), saw this woman leave the toilet, not wash her hands, then go straight into the cheese shop, straight past the anti bac gel, and on to the cheese tasting platters!!!! I had to work really hard to stop myself telling her off. I still don't know why I didn't do it.

Needless to stay I steered clear of any cheese she tasted (although I'm sure the ones I tasted might have been touched by other non-hand washing person)

We have signs up telling is not to flush with your foot. Because when I flush with my hand, I get your street, dog poo, discarded gum, spit shoe germs all over my hands. Luckily, I wash them so it is a moot point.

It might sound counterintuitive but the only way to get rid of superbugs is soap and water.

Antibac will not touch them - it only kills the basic germs, not the really nasty ones, making your hands more receptive to the propagation of nasties.

So I avoid it. On the advice of a consultant microbiologist...wash your hands with soap and water, it won't kill the bugs but they won't be stuck to you after that.

I can't believe that anyone thinks it's ok not to wash

They flushed the toilet somehow. Opened and closed the toilet cubicle door somehow too. Surely touching things? Plus her son was about 3 so may well have held on to the seat

Regardless of going to the loo? Althought clearly you should after using the toilet anyway.

You know what I really dislike as well? When restaurants have a little plate with salt or nuts in it. And everyone is expected to get a pinch or salt or some nuts from the little plate! Which EVERYONE touches!

I am particularly thinking about Carluccio's, ate there the other way and even though I wanted salt in my food I would NEVER have got it.

Also I assume that you do not use loo roll as you say you don't 'touch yourself'. Which is also really gross.

And if you DO use loo roll I am afraid that it is not germ proof so you will be walking around with skanky, germy hands.

Wasn't there a test done of peanuts at a bar and they found loads of urine and stuff on them....? Making myself feel ill.

After a poo always, obv. After a wee - usually but not always, not obligatory. Easy rules really.

That's not as bad as when I was in a restaurant going to the toilet, one of the chefs come out of the cubicle, straight past the hand basins, out of the door and into the kitchen... I just HOPE (pray) that she was intending to use the kitchen sink to wash her hands
