My son is 42 and has lived and worked in Turkey for 19 years. He works for a huge multi national company in a managerial position. Every year he attends several conferences abroad one of which is in UK-usually London. While he is there he catches up with old friends in the evenings. We don't usually see him as it is too far from here.
This year the conference is in Liverpool which is only about 50 miles away and I was counting on seeing him at the weekend after the conference. However he has decided to go to London from Friday to Sunday to stay with a friend. This means he won't see me or dd and her family at all
Every year I have gone to visit him and when his dd was little I went twice a year. Last year I went over in July.
AIBU to think he could have come here on the Friday and then gone to London on Saturday to see his friend?
The conference is next weekend.

oh i'm glad you got it sorted thegreylady. really glad you told him - things can't resolve when we hold it all in.

i'm guessing i have this to look forward to in the future. i have only one child, a ds, and i'm a single mum. rather hoping it will be me living on the other side of the world and him coming to visit though! Grin glad you have family closer to home too.

hope he and your dd sorted things out too. if i was her and he hadn't seen my children for three years and passed up the opportunity to visit in favour of hanging out on his mate's boat i'd be pretty hurt i guess.

Not daft at all! I'm really pleased to read your update :)

Thank you so much for sharing the news - I could do with some glad tidings today

Dd and ds really sorted things out too.Not only did he bring presents for the boys he,dd and her dh had a wonderful evening of eating and drinking together on Thursday night.
Now a delicious sequel...
On Friday night ds and his friend had been drinking. To avoid the expense of transport they had travelled into London by canoe [dont ask]!!
On the way back to the boat...they fell in Grin!
He was soaked;his company phone was drowned and all in all it jolly well served him right!
He and his friend are both fine and he returns to Turkey tomorrow. His wife rang to tell me of the canoe incident and we giggled together across the miles-a real mil/dil bonding experience :)
