To hate my Tupperware cupboard?!

Most trivial/boring thread of the night I know

But it has come to this; me shouting at hundreds of lids and boxes that are Not Stacked correctly, and not knowing how on earth to sort through the mountain of plastic.

How do you stack yours? Do I need some sort of Overlord tub in which to keep them all at bay?

I have a plastic crate/box that fits into the kitchen cupboard perfectly and bung it all in that.

My MIL says that she knows her life is busy when her Tupperware cupboard is messy.

The person who discovers a way of keeping tupperware organised in the cupboard is going to get a nobel prize!

I'm building a new house and the kitchen will have all drawers. I'm hoping that will at least stop the spillage when the door opens.

I have a giant pan drawer for Tupperware and it drives me mad. No matter how much I ask DH to pair bases and lids up when putting away, he always claims he does yet it is mayhem in there and I know it is not me!

Am considering the tactic of throwing away anything I don't instantly find the other half of then, when it irritates him that he can't find something, make a palaver of buying more and see if that helps!

Yes, use a tub to put the lids in. And chuck out any bases or lids that are obviously "rogue" as they will only confuse the picture and you'll never use them anyway.

I only have a Tupperware shelf rather than a whole cupboard but even so I have to keep it in strict order to prevent plastic anarchy from breaking out.

I keep mine in a very large drawer (which just happens to be in this kitchen I currently rent.) I stack containers on one side and then lids on another, sort of arranged into those plastic baskets you can buy at pound shops.

Try not to keep too many of them. There's no need for that many, really.

My weakness is tiny little tubs that fit into school lunchboxes. I use those Systema boxes and I have lots of little tubs and pots that fit inside the compartments. It makes packing lunches easier but there are an awful lot of tiny lids in that drawer!

Nope. I think I may have missed the Tupperware gene.

I do have a towel gene though.

I have found that actually you don't need that much tupperware.

Used to keep it all as felt guilty throwing it away, all that plastic going to landfill etc.

But makes sense to keep as little as possible, and also helps to have it all from the same set as they all interlock etc.

DH does it. Might hire him out at a couple of hundred an hour.

I have erred as mine is face height and not a day goes by when some or all of them don't shoot out, whacking me in the eye and skittering across the tiles losing lids as they go shudder

I think a trip to the necessary hell that is ikea is needed. Get the little sods in order, once & for all. Tupperware that is. Not DC/DH

Every few years have a good sort out and buy a nice new set so you have a well fitting lid for every pot. Stack the pots in a couple of piles and keep all the lids in a plastic tub/basket in size order with the smallest at the front. Simples :-)

YADNBU - I hate my Tupperware drawer with a passion & can regularly be found cursing it - & my Steptoe DH too, as I keep throwing things out & they mysteriously reappear back in the damned drawer, as they tatty pieces of crap are his favourites

I have tubs with hinged lids that are attached. Actually not that smug. I need more and they are impossible to find over here unless you want massive ones for pasta or cereal.

Aggggghhhhhh the plastic tat cupboard, I shove and slam the door quick, less I let out an avalanche of ice cream boxes and takeaway containers.

I have two baskets in the tupperware cupboard, one for bottoms, one for lids. Occasionally have a sort out. Sometimes get a job lot off Amazon, nice and cheap but they do eventually have to be chucked when they go a bit white and crusty (what causes that?)

DP hates the Tupperware with a passion and I have to remind him that this house runs on Tupperware, the microwave and the freezer (his worst food scenario is me taking a Tupperware out of the freezer and putting it in the microwave).

Decent boxes are immediately commandeered as lunch boxes, food for the fridge has to brave the cupboard.

I have NO Tupperware. I threw it all out about 2 years ago and have never had a situation arise in which it was needed. Death to Tupperware! Free yourself from it!

YANBU. It's devil's work, plastic kitchen crap. I speak as an atheist; there can be no other answer!
