Just. Fucking. Why.

She is ten FFS and she doesn't want to dress as a cocking badger any more than I want to spend tomorrow scouring the charity shops in our arse end of nowhere one horse shitsville town for black and white clothing.

Wind in the Willows?

chocoholic05 · 04/03/2013 21:50

There's badger in wind in the willows?

YouTheCat · 04/03/2013 21:50

Well there's Badger in Wind in the Willows. And I think Percy the Park Keeper has a badger friend.

After that I am stuck.

Send her in in whatever colour you like and say the badger dyed its fur? Grin

List of fictional badgers en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_badgers

RattyRoland · 04/03/2013 21:56

Bloody teachers, is this revenge for something?

QueenOfFarkingEverything · 04/03/2013 21:56

A list of household objects from which a 10 yr old can fashion a passable badger costume would be good [hopeful]

She has no black or white clothes so that's a non starter. I have some black but no white, but she's not painting or cutting up my clothes!

Black and red as roadkill badger?

MammaMedusa · 04/03/2013 22:00

Personally I would print out a picture of a badger, glue it on card, and string it round her neck. When she's had enough of it she can just enjoy being in her own clothes.

It is so, so stupid and such short notice I would not try any harder than that.

Actually, I lie, I might as my children conveniently go to school next to a Primark. But in your situation I wouldn't.

idiot55 · 04/03/2013 22:04

hang on, school are choosing who your daughter dresses as?

nightmare!

PopMusic · 04/03/2013 22:06

YANBU I thought the whole point was that children/parents could choose their own character. Why are the school choosing for you? FWIW, I am a teacher and I'm supposed to dress up and have no clue what to dress up as.

pigletpower · 04/03/2013 22:07

Just paint her face?

Remotecontrolduck · 04/03/2013 22:07

Sorry but I laughed out loud at this, it's so utterly ridiculous it's pretty funny Grin

Did they assign everyone a different animal do you think? I can't for the life of me work out why they'd want everyone dressed as a badger?! How bizzare!

kennyp · 04/03/2013 22:08

Send her in with an almighty hangover and then she can say "i feel rougher than a badgers arse" (my stock hangover phrase) then it will only cost you a bottle of pinot.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 04/03/2013 22:10

Badger mask:

QueenOfFarkingEverything · 04/03/2013 22:10

They used to be allowed to choose. That was fine, DD went as Beryl the Peril every year Grin

This year the head (who is leaving so maybe this is some kind of final act of revenge) has decreed that each class choose a book by voting and then the children all have to be a character from said book.

Sorry to detract from the thread, but I've just spat tea everywhere.

Wikipedia has a whole page dedicated to A LIST OF FICTIONAL BADGERS?!?! Sorry, but that tickled me something rotten. I'm hacking up a lung I've laughed so hard.

Is there no way you can buy a cheap white bedsheet, cut it up and then sew the patches into already-black clothes?

Oh come on! Fictional BADGERS! HAHAHA!

thingamajig · 04/03/2013 22:12

Here is a badger mask, print off, stick to cardboard and cut out. Wear as much black/grey as she can manage (?dusbin bag) mask

QueenOfFarkingEverything · 04/03/2013 22:13

Grin @ kennyp. Though she'll have to fight me for the pinot. My costume making muse (along with my birthday cake muse) only visits me when I'm pissed.

"cocking badger" Grin

Make a badger hat. Like this

If you don't have a white bobble hat (who does?) then you could get a white painters cap from a DIY shop like B&Q....and use a marker or some felt to make the badger markings and ears. She must have some black leggings and a top?
