I was on the tube with my baby (pushchair). Woman got on and said fucking pushchairs looking at my pushchair (the pushchair was on the pushchair/wheelchair priority place next to the sign). I ignored her.

Then she proceeded to bang her shopping bags against the pushchair. I ignored it.
Then she asked me to move my pushchair and I said I couldn't, as there was not other space available, she could move further inside the carriage and my pushchair WAS on the pushchair priority place.

She pushed my baby's pushchair and I went mental. I shouted at her not to do that again and when she tried again, well, we both said f.. this and f that and as she was getting off she told me to go back where I came from. I said I will, when she goes back where she came from: her mother's ass.

This is not the first time someone tells me to go back where I came from (after all I have olive skin and most people think I am asian/spanish/italian/oriental, etc. I am actually mixed native south american and white) , but it was the first time (on the tube).

Yup. Quite racist. Sorry you've had to deal with that. She's clearly got nothing better to do with her life than antagonise people

Sorry you had to deal with this twat. She was being racist telling you to go back to where you came from.

Don't let the bastards get you down!

snowtimelikethepresent · 02/03/2013 14:06

You don't need to ask love. Indisputably racist (would have been even if you had been in the wrong, which you weren't!...though your parting shot may have been a little ill-judged but who can blame you!)

Hugs and chocolate!

BlameItOnTheBogey · 02/03/2013 14:08

I used to commute with a pushchair on the tube. I feel your pain. People are unbelievably rude. My stock response whenever someone called me a twat for bring a push chair on the tube in rush hour (yes it was a regular occurrence) was to say; that's the problem with public transport, other members of the public are allowed to use it too.

Yes she was racist and I am sorry she was so rude to you.

MrsCosmopilite · 02/03/2013 14:08

She's a grade A bigoted bitch.

I can't believe people still uphold such stupid attitudes. Sorry you had to deal with it.

Nombrechanger · 02/03/2013 14:08

This is why I drive everywhere. Life's too short to have to listen to racist cunts on the tube.

Ridiculous racists.

In fact, this prongs to mind (swear alert)

Nombrechanger · 02/03/2013 14:23

Everyone's gone off to YouTube!

willesden · 02/03/2013 14:32

Unfortunately, using the tube seems to bring out the worst in people. You were doing the right thing, she was a racist bitch. Totally love your reponse which I have filed away for my next tube fight.

raisah · 02/03/2013 14:49

Sorry that you had to experience that racist woman. you should have screamed that she was assaulting your baby & reported her to a member of staff. She was assaulting your baby by banging the buggy. The way to deal with people like that is publicly humiliate them.

so far not experienced racism on the tube yet but have had back handed comments or people trying to block mefrom getting on the tube with a buggy. My son has hospital apt in London between 9-10am & I hate having to expose him to expose the hostility of the tube passengers.

blackeyedsusan · 02/03/2013 14:52

with no doubt. nice comeback.

HollyBerryBush · 02/03/2013 14:52

This is why I dont use public transport. I cant think of anything worse than two fishwives effing and blinding over a childs head.

Don;t suppose anyone filmed it and stuck it on youtube?

SkinnybitchWannabe · 02/03/2013 15:10

She was an ignorant cow.
Loved your response though.

badtime · 02/03/2013 15:30

I've been told to go back to my own country several times in London. I am white, and from Northern Ireland (i.e. the UK), and have an accent. One of the people who said this to me was a black English person, but they have mostly been white English people. Consequently, I don't think that it is necessarily strictly speaking 'racism'. It might be xenophobia, or just idiots who don't have anything better to say, because deep down they know thay are in the wrong.
The fact that this woman was reduced to saying this just shows how pathetic she was.

snowtimelikethepresent · 02/03/2013 15:32

Spectacular point miss there, Holly

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 02/03/2013 15:35

Bloody hell, if everyone travelling on the tube 'went back' to where they'd come from it would be empty! That woman really needs to get a grip. London is full of 'forrin' people... forrin tourists/students/immigrants etc etc. I'm forrin, I'm from up north, am I not welcome on the tube either Grin. Maybe I don't look forrin cos I have an acceptable skin colour in that mad woman's eyes Confused

Loved your comeback though OP, she deserved it!

LynetteScavo · 02/03/2013 15:38

Bloody hell, if everyone travelling on the tube 'went back' to where they'd come from it would be empty!

Hahaha! I'm imagining deserted streets of London, with a few black cab drivers desperately looking for fares.

LayMizzRarb · 02/03/2013 15:55

Yep, London Transport is full of insulting people. I have been called White Bitch on a few occasions, the latest being yesterday, everyone trying to squeeze on the tube, and because I could not just go through the glass panel like Harry Potter, some girl with attitude thought it ok to be rude. I feel sorry for her that she felt the need to highlight that we all have different colour skin just because she could not get her own way.
Racist? She was obviously just a little thick ...

lljkk · 02/03/2013 16:02

I am white to look at but get the "Go back where you F-ing came from!" when I open my mouth and they hear my foreign accent, around rough rude people, anyway. Some people are just pillocks.

LayMizzRarb · 02/03/2013 16:09

I do see Holly's point though. I hate seeing people brawling and using foul language in public, especially in front of children. She may have been racist, but by saying what you did,you were being disrespectful of the other people around you. It makes you just as bad as her as regards behaving yourself in public. I just treat idiotic remarks like that with the contempt and silence they deserve.

mynewpassion · 02/03/2013 16:13

You and the other lady were slanging the F-word around your child and you were worried if she was being racist? I think your priorities are a bit off.

And here come the apologists for racist remarks...whoever had their money on before 4.00 pm wins.

Poppet48 · 02/03/2013 16:22

I would have been extremely annoyed if someone pushed my pushchair as well OP so I understand why you swore as I probably would have done the same.

She was racist however you were also 'biting back' so it could have been a heat of the moment type of thing.

Sorry you had to encounter someone who likes making other people's lives difficult.
