to think Prometheus was a rubbish film?

The first tiny bit where the Earth is seeded with DNA was the best bit, and perhaps, the last few seconds, where the Alien of good films is born, was OK. Everything in between was crap.

So glad I only paid a couple of quid to borrow the DVD, instead of paying through the nose for the cinema as dh and I had intended to do.

Ridley Scot, you should be ashamed. ASHAMED. I am very cross with you, and I shall think twice before I bother with another film from you.

Yep, it was crap. A few special effects, a bit of drama and then a big crash at the end. I thought Prometheus was going to be some big plot. Turns out it was the name of the ship. Which crashed. Confused

rodandtheemu · 21/02/2013 23:27

It was poop!

sarahbean123 · 21/02/2013 23:27

YANBU. I slept through 99% of it, it was awful.

leonardofquirm · 21/02/2013 23:32

I slept though a lot too. It was disappointing.

AnyFucker · 21/02/2013 23:34

yep, crap

the hype was most unfulfilling

VoiceofUnreason · 21/02/2013 23:39

It looked good and that's as far as the positives go. I don't understand how anyone could rave about it.

thezebrawearspurple · 21/02/2013 23:40

yabu, it was great!

FloatyFlo · 21/02/2013 23:42

Freaked me out. That big blue humanoid. He wasn't very nice was he!! I couldn't sleep for fear of him hiding under my bed.

Cheddars · 21/02/2013 23:44

It made no sense at all. A group of horrible people went to a planet. Why did they all hate each other? Why did she hate her father? Why did the robot want everyone else to die?

and breathe god I hated that film

OxfordBags · 21/02/2013 23:50

It was a steaming bag of shite. Within the first 10 mins, I guessed the plot and who would die when and how and I was 90% right.

SPOILER ALERT

Also, can we talk about having a c-section without anaesthetic and then promptly doing all sorts of terrifying hardcore heroics? Erm, right...

(Also, the machine cut the baby alien's umbilical cord, which means there must've been a placenta, but no placenta was removed. Not that leaving it in could kill her or anything, fuxache.)

Jux · 22/02/2013 00:38

OxfordBags, there were so many ridiculous things like that that it's impossible to list them.

I was annoyed within 15 minutes, and then just waiting for it to end, hoping that it wasn't going to be as bad as it seemed, that there would turn out to have a redeeming feature. Alas!

Does no one in the film industry read books? They could try Asher, Hamilton, Banks, oh, there's loads of them.

Were the unknown actors deliberate, or was it that no good ones would touch it? Grin

I went to see it. In 3D Sad first 3D movie I'd ever been to see aswell.

The glasses hurt my nose so I took them off and got a headache because without them the film was slightly out of focus.

I had huge expectations but I was disappointed. The highlight of that trip was pic n mix Angry

Jux · 22/02/2013 01:29

Commiserations to you, Naysa.

Whitewineformeplease · 22/02/2013 01:37

I am a huge, HUGE Alien/Aliens fan, and was sooo excited about this film. It came out the week I had DD, so didn't get to see it. Got the DVD for Christmas after dropping massive hints, settled down with wine, 3D glasses, everything, and was so pissed off! How, how, did Ridley Scott manage to fuck this up so badly? It's so boring, and nothing makes sense! Can't blame Michael Fassbender though, he is amazing and wonderful and will excuse him being involved in this massive piece of poo. Heard there's going to be a sequel...

anonymosity · 22/02/2013 02:24

YANBU I thought it was utter, mindless PANTS.

SamuelWestsMistress · 22/02/2013 05:21

I thought it was ace! DH would agree with the rest of you though.

Tee2072 · 22/02/2013 05:29

My first words upon its completion were "I want my 2 hours back."

Total and other crap.

Fairylea · 22/02/2013 05:37

I enjoyed it !

PessaryPam · 22/02/2013 06:02

It was totally confusing crap.

chutneypig · 22/02/2013 06:36

I wasn't impressed at all. Triumph of style over substance.

Stinkyminkymoo · 22/02/2013 07:37

YANBU. it was utter, utter shite. I do not get why people rave about it.

Cloud Atlas is another. I could not understand it and I fell asleep 1/2 way through, total waste of money!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 22/02/2013 07:41

oxford that's exactly what I thought!! No way would she be able to run round with a staples stomach the shock of the op alone would have killed her.

And then there was the fact they forgot about all the other people. What happened to them?.....

Eebahgum · 22/02/2013 07:49

I thought it was pants. Dp however liked it so much at the cinema he has since treated himself to the DVD.

YouTheCat · 22/02/2013 10:19

I thought it was brilliant! I didn't think the beginning was about planting dna on earth. I thought it was about destroying the planet that the explorers went to visit.

Squitten · 22/02/2013 10:21

We're big fans of the Alien films but we thought it was utter tosh. If it hadn't been for Michael Fassbender's general creepy awesomeness there would have been nothing good in it at all.
