AIBU to think this is appalling?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/feb/15/babies-health-formula-indonesia-breastfeeding This article in the Guardian describes how Danone is getting round WHO's rules against promoting formula feeding.

The family in the article spend half of their monthly wages on formula for their baby. In the absence of clean water, their baby is terribly ill.

I caught the tail end of a radio article stating BFing is somewhat over rated and mums have been sold a pup with it for years , I'm surprised that wasn't discussed on MN

I've heard of the nestle boycott, but had (rather naively) assumed that the industry had cleaned up its act. Which it blatantly has not.

Holly that article is on active convos at the moment.

Where there is fresh drinking water and sanitary conditions available, FF gives parents a choice. But where there is filthy drinking water FF is a death sentence.

I don't have children so BF / FF falls under my radar. But it's appalling that these companies are cynically continuing to market like this, knowing how much more likely it is that babies will die of FF where there's no fresh water.
