Reeva Steenkamp is dead and the Sun still think it's acceptable to run pictures of her in sexy bikini poses.

She was actually a Law graduate and a domestic abuse campaigner.

The Sun doesn't have a reading age of 8 - it's a made up urban myth.

They also didn't do a countdown to Charlotte Church's 16th birthday before someone spouts that

what did they do go through the hundreds of pictures and find the sexiest one Hmm

Of course it is wrong the whole attitude of the sun is wrong but today they have sunk very low

I know she's an underwear model and that she was kind of expected to have her kit of in MOST photos she's in... but come on. Totally gratuitous, disrespectful - they used that image so that people would go "phwoar". She's been MURDERED! FFS

don't you see? this is why we can't have statutory press regulation. A government watchdog might surpress vital investigative journalism like this. I don't want to live in a country where white van men can't want over a picture of a murder victim. it would be worse than North Korea.

Nothing new for The Scum to be scraping the barrell, bunch of misogynistic bottom feeders that they are.

The Sun tabloid newspaper is horrible and thrives on making money at others expense. However as much as I hate to defend it I can't see anything wrong with using photos from a professional photo shoot ŵhen she was a professional model. If she was in another profession, i.e nursing then there most likely would be a picture in her nurses uniform? She did specialise in underwear and swimming shoots so the vast majority of images are her scantily glad, She was a stunning woman and the story is very sad.

Google her and the vast majority of images are modellings shots in tiny dresses, bikinis, under wear etc so I am sure that she was expecting that in her death those images would be used, as they were in life?

I think halesball says all that I think re: The Suns all time low.

IMO (and no offence meant to any Sun readers here) but its just one big continual low. I wouldn't wipe my arse with that newspaper.

I saw this thread earlier and then saw the front cover of the Sun later. I was quite shocked by it- who the hell thought that would be ok!? It's not like it's just a shot of her in a bikini (which i suppose might be ok, that was her job after all) but she's looking very seductive and undoing her bikini. There are plenty of lovely photos of her- why not just use one of those?

There's in interesting article in The Guardian about it.

There's also a backlash on Twitter complaining about The Sun's frontpage too, using #HerNameWasReevaSteenkamp.

I like that guardian article.

I think those of you referring to Hilsborough are, of course, correct. I don't have a very high opinion of the sun or it's readers but I thought today's front page was particularly sinister.

i dont see why, she was an underwear model. She sold pictures where she thought she looked good.
that was her job.

I dont defend the sun but its MORE an indicator of where women are in society wrt being appendages of men than anything else.

if you said to her " are you ashamed of those pictures?" a week a go, she would say no.

StuntGirl · 15/02/2013 17:20

"Doubtless they'll claim they used these pictures because modelling was one of Steenkamp's jobs ? and the next time they illustrate a story about a murdered hairdresser with pictures of her cutting hair, or a murdered student working in the college library, we can treat that justification with something other than a tired: "Bull. Shit." In this age, many female victims' social media imprint would yield an image of them at their place of work, and you should totally, totally expect news outlets to use it if the choice comes down to that or a beach snap of them scantily clad."

^This is why. (Taken from Guardian link).

no BUT if they have a picture of themselves dolled up on a night out on facebook they would use that.

I find it highly ironic that shagger John Prestcott has suddenely discovered his feminist side on this

She might have been a law graduate, but her job was a lingerie/bikini model as far as i'm aware so it's not totally out of line (though I'd rather they used a fully clothed shot admittedly)

It is The Sun, you can't expect reasonable levels of taste and decency from them unfortunately.

Report
BelindaCarlisle · 15/02/2013 17:30

I hate the fact that a woman who is a law graduate " feels the need" ( or whatever) to be in a wank mag like FHM- that is far more pervasive in society than a shit newspaper behaving in a shit way
