...to go around hitting 'report post'...

Boomerwang · 03/02/2013 19:41

... so that I can see who must be on their last warning by receiving a ban?

mwauaahhahaha!

As if I would. I must say, however, that I've seen one or two of the PO and GF lately whereas I hadn't before. It's a bit like getting a new car. Suddenly everybody's got the same but with better mods.

I keep hitting 'report post' by mistake on my phone. There should be an 'oops I didn't mean to do that' option.

BumpingFuglies · 03/02/2013 20:28

Um. Just a thought, but aren't you giving the PO and GF more attention by starting a thread about it?

I've reported you by the way. Grin

Boomerwang · 03/02/2013 20:39

ahh yes of course in hindsight I'm rocking the boat a bit rather than starting a 'jolly' thread.

Close the case, HQ!

lurkedtoolong · 03/02/2013 21:15

Sanjifair I've been meaning to start a post apologising for doing the same thing. I'm sure I must have accidentally reported a poor poster for something at some point. So if I've ever reported anyone I'm really sorry - apart from that one time I did mean it.

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2013 21:19

I'm not sure you can report by accident can you? Because you'd have to press report and then press 'report this post to mumsnet' afterwards.

Having said that, I've never used MN on a phone...so upon reflection I may be talking shit for a change Grin

BumpingFuglies · 03/02/2013 21:22

Sorry

Now Jolly!

Meant no offence Boomer and understand where you are coming from.

usualsuspect · 03/02/2013 21:24

I press report by accident all the time on my phone, but you have to press twice.so I don't think it matters if you just hit the report button. I'm always accidentally hiding threads too, which is even more annoying.

GetOrf · 03/02/2013 21:26

You can't accidentally report someone - you have to report, and then report again on the new page (this is both laptop and phone).

MadameJosephine · 03/02/2013 21:29

Thank goodness for that, my DD hits report post all the time while I'm feeding and mumsnetting on my iPhone Blush

Before they changed it, I'd send what were meant to be PMs to MNHQ by clicking on Report instead of Message Poster. I always felt like a twat, but thankfully I wasn't sending anything incriminating Grin.

Boomerwang · 03/02/2013 21:39

That's nothing to what my daughter did. She created a new skype account, called my dad in the UK and left him some odd messages. She's 10 months old. My dad was spamming my phone with messages the morning after as she'd done it at 3 in the morning when she wouldn't sleep and I gave her my phone because she'd spotted it and once she sees the phone all shiny and bright she cries until she gets it and I didn't want her to wake up my boyfriend because he's a grumpy bastard.

She also posted a status update on facebook but that wasn't so bad.

Boomerwang. I don't understand anything at all about your first post.

  1. What do you mean about reporting, warnings and bans ?
  2. What are PO and GF ?
  3. Who's got the same but with better mods ? The same what?
< utterly confused>
Boomerwang · 04/02/2013 07:32

ahh if you missed the furore surrounding a regular and popular forum poster being banned a couple of days ago then I guess you might not understand.

PO = professionally offended, GF = goady fucker

About the car thing: I never reported a post before but suddenly I've done a few in the last couple of days so I said it's like getting a new car - you never noticed it before but now it seems like it's everywhere.

hth :)

Thanks Hello I read the first post and thought exactly what you posted!

Thanks for clarifying Boomerwang

Sometimes the PO posts are the funniest thing I read on here, love hearing the knickers getting twisted!

Nobody ever tells me nuffink.

Morning.

Boomerwang, it's nice to hear you've clocked the Report button and we hope you'll use it when there's something you think MNHQ should be looking at.

But we're not sure what you mean by "so that I can see who must be on their last warning by receiving a ban".

Reporting a post doesn't guarantee any action by MNHQ against the poster who's being reported.

Someone could report your OP 20,000 times and, if it didn't break our Guidelines, we still wouldn't delete it. And even if we did delete it, we wouldn't necessarily issue you with a warning (or a ban).

Hope that clarifies things a bit. Do say if you'd like us to explain further.

NorthernLurker · 04/02/2013 10:40

Op - I suspect mis-use of the report butoon is as likely to get YOU banned as anybody else Grin

HelenMumsnet · 04/02/2013 10:40

Changed what, PhilMcAverty? Don't think we've changed anything, have we?

And PLEASE don't PM us. We work a shift system at MNHQ, so PMs may well not reach the MNHQer who is on duty.

13Iggis · 04/02/2013 13:09

I hit report post accidentally all the time on my touch-screen. Nothing happens, you just go back again. Actually reporting something takes a bit more work!

WildThong · 04/02/2013 13:14

GetOrf

I'm gonny report you for bad mouthing the noble baked bean

PhilMcAverty · 04/02/2013 13:14

Noooo - I'd meant to PM the person making the comment, not HQ, but clicked report instead of message poster. So HQ got the PM not the person I'd meant to send it to. Now you have to select whether its spam or not, I never make that mistake.

Does that make sense now? Reading it back I'm not sure Grin

Moominsarescary · 04/02/2013 13:16

I do that all the time! Luckily you have to do it twice to really report.

I missed the banning, was giving birth but I was on the receiving end of some po and gf a few weeks ago. Not sure what I'd done wrong, don't think I usually offend people. They were new posters who I haven't seen around since so maybe that has something to do with it.

Ds3 22 months is great at commenting on other people's fb pictures.

SPBInDisguise · 04/02/2013 13:21

I keep clicking report by accident too on phone. MN please don't ever get rid of the "confirm" screen, else you'll be inundated by people who have written eg "I agree SPB"
