...likes acting silly? I don't really watch Loose women, have seen a few episodes over the years and don't really like it. Today I am working from home procrastinating and the show is on in the background. It just seems to me that any sort of serious topic they try to talk about she pretends/acts not to know about it and that it's funny in a way to not know about it. Och, I don't know, she is just annoying me. Linda Robson is also on it and I always get the impression she also doesn't try. It's like as soon as they hear the words "parliament", "book", "economics" etc they just switch their brains off because they think they don't understand it and can't contribute towards the conversation.

Huff.

Grin@ bupcakes

Did you know Mcgiffin was married to Chris Evans. A fact you may have missed because she hardly ever mentions it....

I have now watched today's loose women, and I take back any liking I had for Carol Vorderman. She is an intelligent woman. Why she has lowered herself to join in with the vacuous comments and ' I don't understand ...' brigade I don't know.

I also need to know about CV and JSP ...

I did know that.

I don't know who I feel more sorry for, him or her...

I heard that Vorders wasn't all that intelligent. She is a member of MENSA but IIRC, that is just a measure of mathematical/logical thinking. It doesn't account for common sense or intelligence in other areas.

Her performance on Question Time illustrated this IMO. She was a proper Tory girl and seemed to think that wearing glasses and peering over them sternly every now and then made her seem like she knew what she was talking about. It was cringey.

Feel sorry for Chris Evans, hands down.

Sometimes I have wondered if Sherrie was just a product of her generation...an actress employed for her looks at a very sexist time. But then JSP is similar age, and obviously very bright, if a bit annoying sometimes.

I can't say much more - too close to home.

But some people hate the way CV acts dumb in order to pander to men and does this 'silly, disty old me' act and flirst like some 18 year old WAG with every man she encounters.

Some also think it's laughable that she denies surgery when they know for certain that is not the case.

I cant watch anything with carol mcgriffin on, she has a miserable face and has to negative comment anything that said unless she said it first

It's an awful programme and, I think, aimed at one particular type of woman.

I shan't say what particular type for fear of offending someone but I think the fact it is sponsored by online bingo probably says it all.

It just presents women so badly. A mysoginists dream of raucous cackling about much younger men, talking about sex and booze like they've just invented it, and simpering displays of 'sisterhood'.

I quite like JSP (I would imagine she takes no shit) but as for the others; they're an embarrassment.

This show reached a new nadir when that bloody Millican woman came on and we then had to endure all the sycophantic laughter.

Vorderman went to Cambridge but only got a third anyway (am going to ignore the fact that she must have been brainy to get in in the first place).

I used to like that scottish woman who used to present Loose Women years ago - she was great. Whatsername.

I used to watch it all the time, but can't stomach it anymore. JSP is the only one worth watching for. I suspect some of the oldies like Sherrie and Denise are popular with the production staff and hence why they've remained there so long. They're certainly not popular with the audience. I prefer the Wright Stuff (but I know MW is not much appreciated round these parts- I happen to think he's great!)

I think its outstayed its welcome by about 3 years. It used to be quite enjoyable when Kay whatsername was the presenter and I also enjoyed it when Jackie Brambles was at the helm. But it completely slid downhill after that and should now be allowed to die peacefully.

I think you are right att it is passed its sell by date I used to like it and enjoy even some of the sillyness now it is all about how useless men are with lots of knowing looks and Hmmms

Yes Kay Adams, she was too good for the show really. Came across as really intelligent (and exasperated by the thickos on the panel).

My panel would be mel and sue sally Lindsay i think she is funny and maybe JSP or kaye adams

How about when Kerry Katona was on it? Now that was when they used to tackle the really 'deep' issues like how her husband went off with a stripper and whether she could sing!

The episode when they got her to 'sing' (and I use that word loosely) was the end of her singing career. Shock

Nothing will ever beat Light Lunch with Mel and Sue. That was brilliant. I love those two.

I am still laughing at the way Mel said 'cusssssstard slicccccces' on Great Brit Bake off this week. Grin

When my husband is working locally he comes home for his lunch and puts it on. I work from home and I never have the TV on in the day, so that winds me up for a start. He thinks they are a fun bunch of women. I can't stand the show they are a smug lot of women whose opinion is right and will not take anyone elses into account when debating, they can only argue.
