I've noticed it a bit. I have disturbing mental images of Bill and Ted posting when I see it. It's most unmumsnettish! What gives dudes?

No, in their names.

AgentZigzag · 13/01/2013 01:10

I heard dude looks like a lady by aerosmith on the radio the other day.

Eeee it took me back Grin

We used to sit outside the rock/alternative nightclub (before we were old enough to be even on the young side go in Grin) and try and guess whether the glams walking past were lads or lasses Grin

ChaosTrulyReigns · 13/01/2013 01:13

With apologies for quoting Benny Hill:

I was in a Chelsea bar one day,
Was a chap stood about five feet away,
And we was both admiring a girl about 21.
I said, "You just can't help but stare
At that cute little chick with the long blonde hair,"
He said, "That chick just happens to be my son."
[You can guess the next bit, but anyway]
I said, "I didn't mean to offend,
You must allow me to make amends;
I mean, at least allow me to buy you another rum."
I said, "You must think me an awful cad,
I didn't know you was his dad."
He said, "I'm not, you twit; I'm his mum."

BluelightsAndSirens · 13/01/2013 01:21

I say dude a lot. Kids at school always laugh.

KenLeeeeeee · 13/01/2013 14:50

I tried calling 8yo ds "dude" the other day (he grimaces if I call him poppet or sweetheart, etc) and he sighed at me, saying "mum, you're just not cool enough to say things like dude".

freddiefrog · 13/01/2013 14:55

I say dude a lot

It gets my eldest daughter back for the constant 'epic' she comes out with

Ministrone · 13/01/2013 15:15

ErikNorseman · 13/01/2013 15:30

It's since TSC was allowed back, since she calls people dude a lot

StraightTalkinSheila · 13/01/2013 15:32

Dude, a multi-faceted word. Love it! I always try to work it into a convo here in Australia and, believe me, it works. Duuuuude.

PrincessMononoke · 13/01/2013 19:27

Dt's are the dudeyos.

ScarletLady02 · 13/01/2013 19:29

I like "dude", I say it all the time

But then I was completely in love with Keanu Reeves for YEARS after seeing Bill and Ted

I MAY even have a personalised autographed photo Blush

Pipachi · 13/01/2013 19:32

It's like totally California in the 80ies. Dude.

RobinSparkles · 13/01/2013 19:33

It was a bit of a campaign to get TSC back. There was a thread and we all NCed to include dude in our names. I was RobinDude, although TSC probably doesn't know me from Adam but the thread was quite funny.
