Customer Service.... Doesn't exist!

I went into Currys in Chingford to by a £400 camera (02/01/13) and stood waiting to be served for nearly 30 mins, whilst firstly being glared at by members of staff and the security staff having a chat in a group and with their manager close to the front door. Finally once I managed to get one to come to serve me he firstly had no idea about the product, or the insurance that was advertised with it. Then when I decided I was going to purchase the item anyway he disappeared for 15 mins and came back to tell me that it was out of stock. When I asked if I could purchase the display model he went to the manager, who was still watching me from the front door and returned to inform me that the manager wouldn't sell me the item because they were awaiting an order!
I went home and ordered the Camera online and two days later was informed by my Credit Card company that there was a problem with the purchase and to get in touch with Currys. This I tried to do 9 times over 3 days! I waited a total of 3 hours in call-queues that informed me that they were very busy, even at 09:00 in the morning!
I emailed Currys, using the Knowhow email service and received an email back informing me that somebody would be in touch. 2 days later I received an email informing me that the camera was out of stock and that they would get in touch when it was available. It is now 8 days since I placed the order! In this time I have emailed several times asking to cancel my order or upgrade me to the next model of camera, which only affords me another automated response email. I have tried calling, but I get annoyed and frustrated 15 mins into waiting in the queue!

I've been advised now to seek legal redress, so I'm leaving it alone for a while, just to watch it develop, but I would advise anybody considering making a purchase from this company to thin really hard about it. This is an isolate incident, this is incompetence of the highest caliber!

I worked in a call centre for 3 years and was let go as I was on about a pound an hour more than the new starts.
Customer service will always be crap when they get rid of the experienced for costing too much.

Soon. That's awful!

I work retail and I pride myself on being polite and helpful to people. Doesn't matter if you're spending £10 or £1000, that money pays my wages.

GAME is one of the few shops I have vowed to never shop in again. Pre-ordered online an Xbox 360 game 3 months in advance as a gift for DP, who was really excited for it. Went down to the shop to pick it up only to be told it wasn't there and they didn't know where it was. That's no problem I said, could we take one from the shelves? No. Apparently Game.co.uk and their stores are separate companies so they can't do that. Alright then, I'll get a refund. No, can't have a refund either because the item is missing. I'd have to wait 14 days for it to turn up and if it didnt then claim with Royal Mail. I try to be understanding, I know it wasn't the staff's fault personally but they were spectacularly not arsed. By the 14 days bit I was absolutely livid.

I'm really not surprised they went in to administration either, they were very overpriced. It was also their company policy that if you bought a PC game and opened it, and it didn't work for whatever reason excluding disk faults it was non refundable.

Soontobeburns If you'd been there for 3 years, you should have qualified for redundancy money. I hope you received a decent amount.

Yes, I agree with GAME being poor. I pre ordered a collector's edition of world of warcraft and when I turned up to get it they said they didn't have any. I asked why not? Since I'd pre ordered it, what happened to it? It wasn't until I showed them the text message I got from them telling me that it was ready to pick up that one of them went out the back and produced a copy.

What were they planning to do with it? Buy it and flog it on ebay?

God awful service.. You hear all this stuff about the economy and how places are closing down as they're not getting enough business and then you hear something like this, crazy. I think we should all boycott places like this - power to the people!!!
