Trampolining in the rain

asheepatthewheel · 06/01/2013 16:17

Sitting in my conservatory for a bit of quiet reading but kids next door are jumping up and down shouting on their trampoline.

Is it just me who thinks this is a bit odd as it's quite dark and p***g down. So much for a bit of peace Sad

Better than jumping up and down on the sofa, exercise is good, kids are cooped up for too long, hopefully they will bounce themselves into an early bed!

flow4 · 06/01/2013 16:20

That's the trouble with neighbours.
Why can't we all have our own islands, eh?!

NinaHeart · 06/01/2013 16:20

Not your kids, not your problem. Turn your music up louder and ignore.
I expect their parents are fed up with them running riot in the house.

RedHelenB · 06/01/2013 16:22

Kids like dogs need fresh air & exercise!!!

waitingforgodot · 06/01/2013 16:24

YABU-kids are kids and need to burn off energy

EduCated · 06/01/2013 16:29

Only thing I'd be concerned about would be the trampoline being slippery.

crashdoll · 06/01/2013 16:32

YABU. I used to love trampolining the rain as a kid. Wet, slippery and dirty - lovely!

complexnumber · 06/01/2013 16:37

Surely a reverse AIBU.

How can you object to children playing outside in their own garden?

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 06/01/2013 16:42

But humans are waterproof.

ResolutelyCheeky · 06/01/2013 16:59

Hee hee goldplated don't get saying that to those expensive cosmetic companies that sell me face cream that goes through all nine lavers of skin! Grin

heymammy · 06/01/2013 17:02

Nothing wrong with it. My eldest two whip on their swimming costumes to trampoline in the rain...much to their hilarity!

SquinkiesRule · 06/01/2013 17:03

We have a hose attached to ours for summer jumping, it does get really slippy in the wet. I never though to send Dd out to jump in the rain and cold. Maybe I should put waterproofs on her and send her out Grin

postmanpatscat · 06/01/2013 17:04

Mine trampoline in snow too, rain is just a minor inconvenience. You can have a lot of fun with trampoline + hose too, especially when fully dressed.

quirrelquarrel · 06/01/2013 17:16

That sounds like so much fun, can I come!

Nanny0gg · 06/01/2013 17:56

Trampolines are not toys!

I would have thought that trampolining in the rain was an accident waiting to happen!

asheepatthewheel · 06/01/2013 18:00

Oh well seems its just me then! Maybe I should ask to join them and give up on the reading, might be more fun than it looks [doubtful] Grin

It's not wise as they get very slippery, but by this late in the holidays normal rules may well fall apart.

Ours is actually better in the rain and you know it's wet than after rain when water sneaks out in rivers from the pads.

AChickenCalledKorma · 06/01/2013 18:11

We are currently renting a flat, with no garden, while our house is extended. There are two very cooped-up children here who would give their eye teeth for a trampoline right now. Rain would be totally irrelevant!

FloweryDrawers · 06/01/2013 18:58

Neighbours is neighbours, I'm afraid, and kids playing is all part of it. It's good to see kids that haven't been cooped up just because it's raining.

Having said that, jumping on a trampoline in the rain is how one of my dds broke a bone in her ankle, but that's a matter for the parents.

SecretSquirrels · 06/01/2013 19:09

I remember mine jumping in snow and hail stones.
Twas fun.
In summer they would point the hose pipe at it.
I used to move the trampoline next to the house in winter so they could bounce after dark.
There are very few ways for kids to play out in the garden after dark.

SecretSquirrels · 06/01/2013 19:10

Oh and they used to run out in just pants to jump in heavy rain.Smile

Lara2 · 06/01/2013 19:12

Do you know what? That sounds really tempting! I'd trampoline in the rain!

MrsKeithRichards · 06/01/2013 19:25

Ds was out on his earlier in the rain, sometimes he's out I his pjs before breakfast. That's the beauty of having a garden, using it!

comedycentral · 06/01/2013 19:29

YANBU children should be seen and not heard. Shock Shock Shock

Ha totally joking, trampling in the rain is inspired. What a great idea. Really fit and really fun I imagine. Grin

PlaySchool · 06/01/2013 19:33

Crazy to jump on it in the rain. I'm afraid my DCs had so many nasty accidents on the trampoline that I got rid of it.
