I have read the twilight series, and while I agree it's a load of rubbish, I don't think it's an abusive relationship.

He does try to control her a bit, but only to protect her, and she doesn't listen anyway, she still goes off and does what she wants . In the end she is the one with the power and control.

No he doesn't. He relents and 'allows' her to see her friend because he thinks she will hurt herself sneaking off. Then in the last book said best friend 'bonds' with their baby i believe. Who has been condemned to grow up to become 'his mate'. You know the guy who guilted her mother into kissing him.

Oh come on, the fans of sci-fi/fantasy tv series have always paid at least as much attention to the relationships as the fantastical world they're based in. The realism of the relationships contrasted with the unbelievable background is what makes the whole genre work.... IMO anyway.

Therefore, dismissing an abusive situation by saying 'it's about vampires ffs' is, charitably speaking, silly.

He physically drags her around, disables her car so she can't go somewhere he doesn't want her to, holds her down and tells her he could kill her, stalks her, breaks into her house and watches her sleep...HOW ROMANTIC.
