to really want a Twilight style romance?

Amytheflag · 28/12/2012 21:43

I know I am! I'm not a soppy teen fgs!

But I'm watching twilight and I want to be worshipped and adored and stalked by a sex god.

Argh I would even make do with a LITTLE romance!

OP posts:
yohohoho · 28/12/2012 23:30

headfirst why would we.

The op isn't saying she wants to be vampire that finds a miserable human who will blackmail her into sex, is she?

SantaFlashesHisBoobsALot · 28/12/2012 23:30

Aspire to a loving, caring relationship with good sex by all means, not an abusive relationship with a dead guy that stalks you and regularly threatens to kill you.

HeadfirstForAMistletoeKiss · 28/12/2012 23:34

I was talking about the anti twilight threads in general.

He doesn't regularly threaten to kill her either. He wants her to stay away from him as he is a vampire and wants to drink her blood. But he loves her and doesn't want that to happen.

Some serious over thinking about this series.

Mulledandmerry · 28/12/2012 23:37

I love the thought of the viking..but Bill is all dark and handsome and dependable..but then Eric is exciting..but then Bill...oh, hang on, its not real..i can have both Grin..maybe even in the same night Blush

LadyBeagleBaublesandBells · 28/12/2012 23:40

I've never read or seen Twilight but did read the first book of 50 Shades which it was based on.
Safe to say I didn't read the others, and will never read or watch Twilight.
What are women thinking?

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 28/12/2012 23:58

A bit Confused and Grin at all the analysis of twilight. Shock

mrsjay · 29/12/2012 10:21

Spike in his coat

all swishy Grin

he was in a torchwood as captain jacks on off lover he was

mrsjay · 29/12/2012 10:22

I watched a countdown show last night maybe on E4 anyway they were taking the piss out of 50 shades I was Grin

Lovecat · 29/12/2012 11:09

Ooh, now Captain Jack AND his lover in swishy long coats...

Twilight = not romantic. A man telling me what to do 'for my own good/safety' = not romantic.

OP, try googling Mark Reads Twilight - it really shows it in another light. Several blogs including that one have commented upon how the author's religious beliefs have shaped Edward/Bella's relationship (no sex before marriage etc).

Tribblewithoutacause · 29/12/2012 11:15

Twilight, urmm no. Not Edward, not for me. I'd be all up and all over Jasper with his accent.

To be frank, where were her parents when the relationship lessons were handed out. First rule should always be, 'don't date the guy who takes you into the woods and tells you he wants to suck your blood!'

Nice to be adored, but as with another poster I'd save my own arse and tell him to grow a pair.

Fluffy1234 · 29/12/2012 11:15

Yanbu

Chesntoots · 29/12/2012 11:26

Spike...mmmmmmmm

Gutted that he isn't actually English though...(crashing sound of dream being broken)

blonderthanred · 29/12/2012 12:28

Twilight teaches girls that men can't help themselves, that it's just because the girl smells too good, that if she gets too close it's her own fault if she gets bitten.

Spike'd still get it. Spike and his coat.....

'never mention Bella blackmailing Edward into sex either? She won't marry him unless he agrees to try and shag her while she's human. She pesters and pesters him to do it, until he finally, and reluctantly does so, just to try and make her happy? Even after, when they've done the deed, and he feels awful because she has some bruises she still harrasses him for more sex'

Yeah GD FORBID women should want a normal sexual relationship without being punished and bruised for it- the durty hoars Xmas Angry

InNeedOfBrandy · 29/12/2012 12:37

Captain jack sparrow is hot, not to bothered about JDep in any other films but jack sparrow

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/12/2012 12:51

I enjoyed the films. I am slightly embarrassed about this. For me they're the kind of films I can just watch with no need to engage my brain.

Thinking about them seriously for a second,I agree with what everyone else has said. Even with my brain switched off I remember thinking "I would dump that bloke on his arse if he did that to me" on numerous occasions.

JazzyTheSnowman · 29/12/2012 18:47

"Yeah GOD FORBID women should want a normal sexual relationship without being punished and bruised for it- the durty hoars"

  • I agree with EVERY. WORD.

Seriously - it's hardly a healthy relationship is it?! Besides which, it's the classic controller thing. She begs, he tells her no. He finally relents, she ends up hurt. He's then like "see?! see what you made me do?!". I'm sorry, but what the actual fuck?

HeadfirstForAMistletoeKiss · 29/12/2012 19:37

A normal sexual relationship...with a vampire? Hmm Grin

KellyEllyChristmasBelly · 29/12/2012 19:47

Good lord OP, bet this wasn't what you expected when you started this thread! Watch The Vampire Diaries - Damon is the best ever vampire, but Claus and Stephan are both more apprealing and broody than Edward Cullan (yuk) :)

Agree with Matilda it's just a bit of fantasy, there's some serious overthinking going on and bees in bonnets on here about Twilight! I love vampire stuff and shall take it as fiction as they're not really real you know? (needs vampire smiley)

kids come across worse themes in song lyrics, shall we light the torches and grab our pitchforks against the top 40 too?

Fakebook · 29/12/2012 22:12

Watch Vampires Suck. That'll get you over it. You'll never look at Edward Cullen in the same way again.

cuttherope · 29/12/2012 22:18

a normal sexual relationship without being punished and bruised for it

But he's a vampire Hmm

He doesn't believe in sex before marriage because he's like 200 hundred years old and was raised in a completely different time.

He also doesn't want to have sex with her because he could lose control and kill her because yes he's a vampire.

What is with the Edward bashing?

Bella plays two guys off against each other through three of the films. Edward broke up with her (for her own safety).

It is not an abusive relationship. It's fantasy and escapism.

And for the romantic in me I love Edward's wedding speech.

"It's an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to and accept you for what you are. I've been waiting, for what seems like a very long time, to get beyond what I am. With Bella I feel like I can finally begin."

alistron1 · 29/12/2012 22:42

It would be nice to have a very handsome boyfriend with superhuman powers. But I'd draw a LINE at calling my child Rennesme. And like feck would that werewolf imprint on MY baby.

Also all that vampire internecine crap with the italian lot would bore the tits off me. Just let me be and enjoy my vampire skillz.

Do agree though that Spike owns Edward Cullen. Bigtime.
