Who ran into me with their trolleys, elbowed me out of the way, trod on my toes and left their bloody trolley behind my car because they couldn't' be arsed to push it a few metres to the trolley dump? Angry

Whatever happened to the season of goodwill?

On the face of it, YABU ... However, a bloke bumped into me quite hard only way into work (a busy city centre) and he eyeballed me and tutted at me.

I silently hoped that his cock would fall off. A bit
strong, I know ...

I feel your pain!

SantaWearsGreen · 19/12/2012 15:38

People need better organisational skills. I never understood those who leave it til the very last minute. Plus we are in the age of the internet- just do it all online in November and Bob's your uncle. Dunno how anyone can be arsed doing it all in store now, it'd drive me bonkers.

carameldecaflatte · 19/12/2012 17:06

I only nipped in for some loo roll and a loaf of bread and left feeling a lot grumpier (more grumpy?) than when I went in!

Why are people panic buying when shops are only closed for one day!

Uh, the world is ending on Friday. We're stocking up. I mean THEY'RE stocking up. Ahem.

MolotovCocktail · 19/12/2012 17:13

Bloody Mayans ...

carameldecaflatte · 19/12/2012 18:36

Oh crap, I forgot that the world was ending, don't think I got enough loo roll.

OP posts:
roooibos · 19/12/2012 18:39

The world is ending, you won't need loo roll.

bradywasmyfavouritewiseman · 19/12/2012 18:41

Wasn't morrisons was it?

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 19/12/2012 18:47

I popped into a couple of shops today on my way home and the shop assistants were all lovely and cheerful but the shoppers were horrible, really pushy and tutty and pissy when the assistants because they didn't have what they wanted.

Greensleeves · 19/12/2012 18:50

SantaWearsGreen not everyone CAN "do it all online in November". Some people do it this weekend because they are waiting to get paid on Friday.

Allergictoironing · 19/12/2012 19:13

I am biding time until about 9pm before I drag on a coat against the pouring rain to do my standard grocery shop. Hopefully I'll at least manage to get parked, while at the same time there may still be some stock left on the shelves. Over the last few years I've tried every time I can think of to shop in the week before Christmas and worked out that any earlier than about 9pm it's insanely busy, whereas by about midnight most of the staples seem to have run out. I don't know when they do shelf stacking either, because they hadn't started by 2.30am one night last year.....

bedmonster · 19/12/2012 19:44

I've been to the supermarket loads this week and every time its been almost unsettlingly empty. Same with the big town I drove to last weekend to pick up some last minute stuff. Everywhere was dead. Drove straight in to the town, no queues, no traffic, got an excellent parking space. Brilliant!

RedToothbrush · 19/12/2012 20:06

Just been to Tesco. Didn't see any of that. Quite quiet for this time on a Wednesday evening. In fact the woman on the self service tills was dead nice. Unusually so.

However I don't think YABU, mainly cos I live near the Trafford Centre. And well, yeah, its hell from mid-November onwards because of Christmas. Mind you. Boxing Day is even worse!

And dammit I forgot to stock up on washing tabs and bottled water for the Worlds End.

carameldecaflatte · 19/12/2012 20:40

brady it was sainsbury's and it was a bit scary.

bedmonster did the world end earlier where you are?

Oh, I just know that morrisons were giving their staff 15% off everything today. When I went this morning it was like hell on earth. two people were fighting over a TV. Someone else was falling out because there was only one crate of magners. Even though a manage was telling them there was more coming out.

Awful. But everytime they do 15% days its like that. Not just christmas. Going to get up early and go first thing next time.

Theicingontop · 19/12/2012 20:48

I was in Morrisons today doing my weekly shop. I came out feeling murderous.

Theicingontop · 19/12/2012 20:49

Oh, yeah. I was there for the 15% too Blush

bradywasmyfavouritewiseman · 19/12/2012 20:50

pictish · 19/12/2012 21:00

I was doing a bit of shopping this afternoon, and I really noticed a lot of stressed, grumpy people huffing at this, tutting at that, shaking their head at the other, pawing the ground like an impatient horse while queuing for the till.
It's getting frantic out there.

Allergictoironing · 19/12/2012 21:03

I live not far from Bluewater shopping centre, dreading this weekend when I have to drive past on the A road! Previous years A2 and M25 backed up a mile in all directions the weekend before Xmas (sob)

ChristmasIsForPlutocrats · 19/12/2012 21:18

Really, Allergic? Bollocks, I've got to go tomorrow morning. Will it be ok at opening time, do you think?

McChristmasPants2012 · 19/12/2012 21:21

I am dreading shopping this saturday, thank god HR have finally agreed we can get paid early and are getting paod friday instead of monday :)

i am monthly paid so too early to go shopping 23rd november

steppemum · 19/12/2012 22:04

did my weekly shop at asdas this morning, it was really quiet!

Allergictoironing · 19/12/2012 22:48

ChristmasIsForPlutocrats it seems much quieter this year. Avoided it myself, but been told get in really early (parking by 9am) or leave it until about 8-8.30pm as most people have gone by then - that worked well for me last year anyway.

Mate who is a driving instructor so drives past off & on all day said Sundays have been the worst this year, followed by any time between 10-30am & 8pm.
