and after compensation

idiots

They were feeding dolphins at SeaWorld.

A dolphin nipped their DD

Now they say they "felt helpless" Hmm

It was a nip. On the video the child can clearly be heard telling her Dad she doesn't want to hold her hand out for him to film it.

He is more concerned with getting it on camera than with his DDs well-being.

Dolphins are animals. With teeth.

They are idiots. With camcorders.

gloomywinters2 · 03/12/2012 13:01

catgirl1976geesealaying · 03/12/2012 13:02

Vajazzler · 03/12/2012 13:02

TBF to the dolphin she was waving the fishy tray around. I expect he thought it was food. Poor thing was waiting to be fed.
People + wild animals = not a good mix.
You wouldn't expect to feed a tiger at the zoo like that and come out of the experience with the same number of fingers would you Xmas Hmm

bradywasmyfavouriteking · 03/12/2012 13:04

Just read this.

I have been to this 'experience' they remind you lots of times that they are animals.
you are given instructions and one is to keep the tray with the fish in out of view. There are signs reminding everyone of the rules. Everyone goes intogether and you are told this by one of the staff. Everyone is told st the same time.
She clearly waves the tray about, which is why the animal has jumped for the tray.

They ignored the rules that are there for their saftey.

At one point the mum says "we are not going to show it to anybody"

Erm..............just the entire world

What do they expect a dolphin to do if it thinks her hand is a fish?

missymoomoomee · 03/12/2012 13:05

I'm not sure what changes they want made. Better dolphin training? Xmas Confused

You are right they are after compensation. It was an accident.

countrybump · 03/12/2012 13:09

I think changes do need to be made - a ban on dolphins being kept in captivity should do it.

bradywasmyfavouriteking · 03/12/2012 13:09

There are also loads of signs saying that dolphins may bite.

bradywasmyfavouriteking · 03/12/2012 13:11

country that's a good point. But these are bred in captivity.
So couldn't be realised.

D0oinMeCleanin · 03/12/2012 13:16

I don't think the dolphin actually wanted to nip the girl, he just wanted to take the tray.

SantaisBarredfromhavingStella · 03/12/2012 13:16

They are morons purely because they took part in the feeding of a captive dolphin never mind anything else Angry I did chuckle at the dads comment in the paper today though that he thought it was dangerous-why the fuck did you let your child take part then you prize twat??Hmm

loopylou6 · 03/12/2012 13:20

The poor dolphin clearly thought he was being offered food, that's what normally happens for him in that situation. Dolphins are known fir their love of humans.

quoteunquote · 03/12/2012 13:47

I hope they sue, get awarded 10 billion dollars so sea world has to shut.

There is no excuse to continue to abuse these animals, we know it's cruel to keep marine animals in captivity, yet people for their own gratification keep funding these places.

well I don't think it is unreasonable to take a photo.I think injuries should be properly documented, that is the whole point of accident books.

catgirl1976geesealaying · 03/12/2012 14:13

Ah......but do you give a stuff about the dolphons quality of life socharlotte?

littlenoodles · 03/12/2012 14:27

I think the parents are twats. "Show the mark to the camera, we won't show anyone". Poor child, and poor dolphins being stuck in a giant pool all their life. I feel more sorry for them than the kid tbh, no doubt they'll get some compensation anyway for he awful trauma.

JenaiMathis · 03/12/2012 14:31

I knew it was going to be this story!

YANBU. They are fuckwits.

Latonia · 03/12/2012 17:19

These highly intelligent animals shouldn't be in captivity. Same with zoos although some are doing good work with breeding programmes for endangered species.

Brodicea · 03/12/2012 17:37

The parents are awful and FFS the poor animal hardly bit down with all its might - I had worse injuries when I tried to dress the cat (I was six).

HeadfirstForAMistletoeKiss · 03/12/2012 17:42

They are idiots for supporting sea world. I hope the place gets shut down, but that is unlikely while hoards of people continue to pay money to this cruel company.
