Bin went missing

Ok so not a big issue at all in fact u may even find it funny but im a bit annoyed.
To put every1 in the pic we automatically had bins delivered wen we moved in that r bigger than others.

After our bins were emptied last time i ended up having to be away overnight and on returning my bin was missing (stupidly we had not yet put our house no on it) now it is bin day again and it has reappeared only with a no stuck on it so obv im thinking they stole it and then had cheek to put their no on it! But oh has put me off taking it back saying how can i be sure they havent just got a new one :(

What would u do?

Let the council know?

Tee2072 · 22/11/2012 07:25

Call the council? You can't prove it's your bin, so you'll need a new one. I imagine you'll have to pay for it.

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 07:30

Yeah thats the most annoying part just cant believe sum1 would steal a bin!!

diddl · 22/11/2012 07:32

Yup-tell the council.

If you have a different size bin it´ll be easy to sort out.

Are you sure that yours is the only one of that size?

How have they put there no on?
(If yours is the only one I might be tempted to take the no off)

Here they come with the address on (Germany)

Tee2072 · 22/11/2012 07:32

And if I may offer another piece of advice? Use full English sentences and words here on MN. You'll get a better response.

We don't appreciate or like or, sometimes, understand text speak.

Fakebook · 22/11/2012 07:33

Just tell the council someone stole your bin. Simples. Don't some bins have electronic chips or something on them now...pretty sure I read something about this. Maybe they could track yours down?

LillyofWinchester · 22/11/2012 07:34

Call the council & ask if there is a serial number on yours which will identify it. There is on ours which I had no idea about until someone stole ours & we called the council for advice.
Once we knew the unique number of it we just went round the local houses till we found it and then took it back.
And top tip, paint your number on it, don't get a sticker that's easy for someone to peel off.

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 07:39

There hasnt previously been a bin as big as ours put out thats what makes me think they have helped themselves, they have stuck a no on the lid tho not sure if its the kind u get in shops or been cut from paper and stuck on with tape.

Just a bit hacked off if it is ours why do that? Also not sure why im so annoyed about it really will put it down to pregnancy hormones

BigBirdisSaved · 22/11/2012 07:42

Perhaps the council could also tell you if house #X has bought a big bin.

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 07:43

Had no idea about serial nos i will ask but not sure our council will bother, its a hassel to get them to do anything to be honest

OP posts:
KittyFane1 · 22/11/2012 07:46

Have you got a smaller bin in it's place? If so, someone has swopped. Phone the council.

KittyFane1 · 22/11/2012 07:47

bigbird big bins come with big families. You can't buy them ( here anyway)

diddl · 22/11/2012 07:50

This big bin with the no on-does it look suspiciously new??

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 07:53

Luckily i have managed to get a small bin in its place (some of the neighbours are nicer) but still annoyed as it costs almost £90 if i had had to buy another bin of same size even a small one costs £45

OP posts:
WankbadgersBreakfast · 22/11/2012 07:53

I've got it.
Someone kindly posted it down here to Perth, and now I have 2 luffly big bins and recycling bin.

I would nick it back, spray paint it pink and sit back. Grin

Sokmonsta · 22/11/2012 07:53

Get the serial number from the council. If it matches, take it back and paint your number on it. But more fool you for not doing that in the first place.

Because we have 6 in our house we are allowed and extra recycling bin. I didn't put it put until I had a number on it as other people have lost bins/the wrong one has been taken back and this has caused no end of problems with certain neighbours.

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 08:03

I know i know i so wish i hadnt put it out till id put a no on it but it was full, i have just left a message with council re serial no so will see what comes of that

Actually lol at spray it pink, do you think they would still
Empty it ok ;)

Its was pretty dark still wen i was out but will look again wen taking my son to nursery

Slainte · 22/11/2012 08:11

Agree with Tee2072 Smile

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 08:20

Well if the serial no thing turns out to be right il be able to find out either way, i actually just had a thought that one of the parents at my sons nursery is a binman so i will try to catch him this morning

OP posts:
ChaoticismyLife · 22/11/2012 08:34

Someone stole mine, when it was nearly full Hmm, once and mine had both the house number and initial letters of my street painted on it. I do see it occasionally when I walk the dog and actually walked passed it last week. I was tempted to take it back and hide it Grin

Hopingforno2 · 22/11/2012 09:35

Thats even worse if it already had your no on it id have taken it back! Cheeky gits eh!

Tee2072 its people like you that make me detest this forum. There are thousands of people using this website so who are you to say 'we' don't like something. If you have nothing useful to say I suggest you don't bother. Poster's may write however they like.

Jossysgiants · 22/11/2012 11:09

op I would certainly call the council and when you receive a new one personalise it yourself. Tee2072 can I put my hand up and say that the text speak doesn't bother me as an individual at all. Agree with bangersmash - even on aibu there is no need for such snark.

Sparklyblue · 22/11/2012 11:18

I would definitely take it back if it is the only bin of that size in the street.
Good idea about spray painting it, the council will empty the bin regardless of the colour Smile
Oh and piss off Tee2072 Angry people come on here for advice, not an English lesson.

MissCellania · 22/11/2012 11:56

If you detest this forum, what are you doing here? Tee is correct, this is a site for adults, not texting tweenagers.
This isn't an aibu either.
