I have 4 Dcs and there are so many things I want them to experience, a long life being a major one . I want to finish my studying and start my new business. I want to write a book. I want to get back down to a size 10 and wear lovely clothes. I want to do loads more stuff. I will not manage all that in 5 weeks .

Disclaimer - I am usually a logical, reasonably intelligent person but as the date draws closer I am getting more irrationally anxious about it. I will feel better on Dec 22nd, if the world has not ended of course!

Meh, if it ends it ends, no point wasting the last few weeks worrying about it. I think we have all survived about 500 ends of the world in the last few years anyway so I think we might make it through one more.

I feel your pain OP. For a usually rational,logical person all this end of the world stuff pushes so many irrational buttons.

The world will not end it will go on a sit ever did. The slow ramping up of the media hype is just happening because they've found the most efficient way to make money out of it..

It better not end! Its my 25th birthday the day after and I've got big plans!

The world will end on Dec 22 in exactly the same way that the world ended on Dec 31 2011 when the calendar on your wall ran out.

Didn't someone decide that they'd miscalculated the date as Mayans had used a different calendar to us and it should have ended 20 odd years ago?

Has it ended any of the other times a loser with a calculator and too much time on his (they're always male) hands has said it would? No.

I reckon the mayan who was responsible for writing the calander either got bored or died. Even if it does end, we won't care because we will presumably be dead.

Come now OP, if you've got four DCs you can't be too young to remember how the world was going to end at midnight on 31/12/1999 (or 2000 depending on how you count it)? That end of the world really hurt, didn't it? Oh no, wait a minute - it didn't.

Those luxury bunkers in the news today have really irrationally pissed me off. Survive in comfort if you're rich, die if you're poor! .

Or is it 21st because they changed the calendar some time in the middle ages?

DS2 just said what time are we talking about, is it going to be midnight, midday or some time in between, and if so, by whose clock? Because the world is made up of a lot of different time zones. Perhaps we're going to have a sort of rolling extinction as the earth moves round... I'm giving this too much thought.

They've beeb predicting the end of the world each year for as long as I can remember!

Yes I remember the world ending in 2000 . Really was not bothered about that one even though I had one DC at that point. Life was different then though and I was a different (and much slimmer!) person, I had not had the tragedies and tribulations I have been through since that have almost turned me into a nervous wreck.

I have just gotten to the point where I finally know what I want to do with my life. The world ending is not going to bloody stop me!

The world can't end next month. I've got soup in the cupboard that goes out of date in 2014

the world will not end has baseball bat and OF rucksack sitting by back door & escape plan invoving stopping via camping/food and gun shop all sorted and those involved know what there jobs are and where the bunker is ;)

Well if it does i for one shall be pissed off. I am heavily pregnant which will of been a futile exercise, and as my ELCS is 21/12 I will of done and wrapped all of the christmas pressies!

So should I delay buying Christmas presents until after 21st otherwise I will have wasted my money.

I am always glad to see the end of 21st December because as it is the shortest day the nights start getting lighter after that.
