I've been looking for it for ages.

It's SGM's "I'm a Canadian Thread".

I know this is the wrong place, but I want to be able to find it again, so sorry Trills.

Proper funny thread.

I wonder did the OP ever make it to Canada?

ClaireMarathonFeeder · 12/11/2012 21:57

Thanks for the link MaryZ, that thread was hilarious GrinGrin!

cheeseandmushroomghostie · 12/11/2012 22:01

Marking my place to read the thread later, am intrigued!

MoonlightandRoses · 12/11/2012 22:10

They don't make 'em like that anymore! How did I manage to miss this one first time round?

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 12/11/2012 22:10

HOWL!!!!!!

recall · 12/11/2012 22:21

I AM CANADIAN - classic GrinGrin loved the way soooo many posts were deleted Grin

PickledFanjoCat · 12/11/2012 22:26

Im getting an ad at the side now asking do I want help with immigration. Spooky internet!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 12/11/2012 22:39

And having flonced off, she's back for another go!

Priceless.

Happylander · 12/11/2012 22:39

I was going to sort my washing out but ended up reading that thread did make me chuckle.

I wonder if they ever got to Canada??

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 12/11/2012 23:18

Thanks for that MaryZ.

But seriously, ShockShockShock
And Sad for her poor OH and kids .
What a 'mare!

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/11/2012 23:23

Bit mean to have bullied her over her spelling...but gosh she just would not let it go!

Honestly,I'm the same age the OP was then and I would react like that. Touchy in the extreme!

MaryZezItsOnlyJustNovember · 12/11/2012 23:25

To be fair Alis, no-one said anything about her spelling until she got very sarky. And told everyone about her maths degree. And boasted about an awful lot of other things.

ConfusedPixie · 12/11/2012 23:34

I've bookmarked that for the morning and am skim reading now.

I love that the OP insists that British workers work harder than Canadian's over and over again, yet we British are renowned for taking work for granted and generally being a bit lazy in the workforce by our own standards. I dread to think what Canadian standards must be like then if Brits are known as hard workers there Wink

lemonpoppyseed · 13/11/2012 00:53

Blimey. That thread is bonkers Grin

Thanks for reposting the link; it had completely passed me by. I am a proud Canadian citizen (by choice), although I still work just as hard as I did when I was merely a British ex-pat Wink.

everybodysang · 13/11/2012 00:58

Oh that was ACE. I am stuck in hospital and can't sleep and very bored. That has cheered me right up.

JackThePumpkinKing · 13/11/2012 01:12

Ha, I'd forgotten about that one. It really should be in classics :)

Thumbwitch · 13/11/2012 01:20

Norty Mary! Grin
Love that thread.

INeedThatForkOff · 13/11/2012 03:49

I thought the thread was really unpleasant to be honest, and the delight taken in piling in on the unreasonable but also deluded OP is really juvenile. She says the most ridiculous things, but after a point she backs herself into a corner. It would have been kinder to just back off there. For it to be linked to two years later is harsh (albeit an AIBU in a public forum).

Didn't find the punchline funny either. Smacks of an exclusive in-joke that it should be considered such a 'classic'. [disappointed]

LoopsInHoops · 13/11/2012 04:52

Ah, this is my favourite bit: "if you were originally born in Canada"

Was SGM reborn in the UK?

Newtothisstuff · 13/11/2012 05:44

Grin how funny..

MerryChristMoose · 13/11/2012 05:51

It's not me!

We have only been here 18 months and have one DS, who is 10 months old. I'm a law graduate and can type in full sentences.

Oh god. She's not here is she? Please tell me she didn't make it! What an embarrassment to the rest of us. We're not all like her.

FellatioNelson · 13/11/2012 06:17

Thanks so much Mary, I've have heard about it many times but never actually seen it. It's priceless - why did it never get to Classics? Confused did no-one nominate it? We should make sure we do now.

YummyMummy really was a bit of a loon wasn't she? I love the way SGM even tried to help her out with some useful advice about emigration towards the end of the thread even after the way she'd been spoken to. Smile

FellatioNelson · 13/11/2012 06:22

'Oh for Christ's sake. You people are sooo annoying. STFU please.'

Shock

What, all of us? It's not just you then? What a frigging loon.

ClaireMarathonFeeder · 13/11/2012 06:27

I did feel a bit sad for her in bits, but pretty quickly changed my mind! Grin

ledkr · 13/11/2012 06:52

Sorry to say it but it did at times feel like all the big girls were ganging up on the new girl then others who wouldn't normally be so confident were jumping in almost seeking approval from them and they were being nasty whilst the oldies were keeping it clean iykwim.
The Canadian bit was hilarious though.
