To find this odd and, actually, a bit annoying

Up until recently, I have done 100% childcare.

A few things have happened which have meant I've asked my DH to do bedtime when he gets home. Around 50:50.

Tonight, the kids are messing around it is (in the new rules) his turn. He is not happy. He turns the tv off as he walks out. So, if he cant watch tv no one can?

That's odd, isn't it ? I won't switch it on again.... I just find it odd, and not something I would ever dream of doing to him (and I was sitting in the room when he walked out and switched the tv off)

A bit like a petulant child really....

mamamibbo · 07/11/2012 19:42

Queer folk, men.

SantasStrapOn · 07/11/2012 19:43

Two things I can't stand: Martyrdom and sulking.

Just turn the tv back on, and keep possession of the controls.

SugaricePlumFairy · 07/11/2012 19:44

That's arsey from him.

Put the telly back on, make a cuppa and read a mag.

SantasStrapOn · 07/11/2012 19:44

Shit, that reads wrong.

I meant him being the sulky martyr, not you. Just in case you misread. Confused

I wish dh would switch the telly off when he leaves the room. I have sat through far too many episodes of Pointless blaring away in the background.

But I'm not the OP, obv.

Were you watching it?

lizziebach · 07/11/2012 19:46

At least yours knows how to turn the TV off, mine leaves it on if he is the last one out of the room and has no intention of going back in there for awhile.

Grab a glass of wine, put your feet up and ignore his man strop. When he comes back in thank him nicely for turning the TV off in a "oh you are so thoughtful to notice how tired I was and to turn the TV off to give me some peace and quiet" kind of way.At least that way his strop hasn't worked

Fireyfieryfiery · 07/11/2012 19:46

Petulant child. Utterly

I won't put it back on. He switched it off. I'm not supposed to be down here enjoying myself... No no, he is. Except he's not. Because I've forced him to deals with his children.

And here I am mning. How very dare I?

ShatnersBassoon · 07/11/2012 19:48

Did he do it without thinking? I've turned the lights off when I've walked out of a room away from an argument, making me look like a twat.

Fireyfieryfiery · 07/11/2012 19:48

Yes, I was watching Obama

Fireyfieryfiery · 07/11/2012 19:50

No, shatners.... It was as very conscious decision

Hang on.let me just compute this.Your husband walked out on the kids when it was his turn to look after them? Leaving them to do what? He sounds like a childish prick. Is there anyway of actually leaving the house physically? So he cannot rely on you to pick up his slack?

I'd put on a chip flick and refuse to turn it off x

Fireyfieryfiery · 07/11/2012 19:55

No, he's gone to look smarter the kids. He just switched the tv off on me. He is looking after the kids. He's just pissed about it

HuwEdwards · 07/11/2012 19:57

Bloody rude. Switch it back on and ignore.

Meandmycats · 07/11/2012 19:57

I agree with coconutty. Yes, it was stroppy of him to turn it off but if you want it on then just turn it back on!

StuntGirl · 07/11/2012 19:58

Turn the TV back on if you were watching it. Good god.

KellyElly · 07/11/2012 19:58

Chip flick lol.

scrablet · 07/11/2012 20:00

Don't get why you don't just turn it back on if you want it on?

MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour · 07/11/2012 20:01

I would switch it back on even if I didn't want to watch it just to make a point

I can't abide childish strops in grown adults
