To think that just having a bath doesn't make you clean?

I mean, you also need to wash with some sort of soap... You are not clean by virtue of just sitting in the bath? Are you?!

Depends, does the bath have some sort of bubble bath in it, I would think that plus a flannel/sponge would be fine, no need for soap too.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 19/10/2012 20:14

YANBU.

dollywashers · 19/10/2012 20:15

I think if it's got bubble bath/soap in and your whole body is immersed then you're clean afterwards.

RightUpMyRue · 19/10/2012 20:15

No, you aren't. Pits and bits need some sort of soap IMO.

Laquitar · 19/10/2012 20:20

I'm with you.

I would go further and say you need shower after the bath. But i know many will lol.

IcouldstillbeJoseph · 19/10/2012 20:23

Laquitar - I was going to keep that to myself but that's what I do too! Bath with bubble bath, wash with soap and then a rinse in the shower...

Who sits in a bath without washing?

ErikNorseman · 19/10/2012 20:25

No of course not - you need a wash with shower gel and a flannel at the least.

RuleBritannia · 19/10/2012 20:25

Wash with flannel and soap and wallow for me.

Laquitar · 19/10/2012 20:28

You are doing the right thing Icould Wink

AgentZigzag · 19/10/2012 20:28

I don't think all the mank bonds to just the water, you need the soap to rinse it all off.

Same as dangling your hands under a running tap doesn't do much after you've been to the loo.

Who is it not using the soap? Is it because they don't feel it's 'natural' or something?

My friend is allergic to lanolin and can't use soap, but she doesn't not wash herself properly and just finds something else.

AgentZigzag · 19/10/2012 20:30

I'm guessing it's a teenager lad or lazy bloke - I'm aware I'm stereotyping though Grin

IcouldstillbeJoseph · 19/10/2012 20:33

AgentZ- I am ashamed to say it was a fellow healthcare professional! She was saying she didn't like using soap in the bath as the bubbles disappeared.... I suggested washing at the end of the bath and then getting out and a few others chipped in that you don't need soap if you've used bubble bath.
Restores your faith in NHS cleanliness standards eh?!

YANBU, you need to scrub too. Usually I shower after a bath but have recently become more lazy and just use a jug to rinse with clean water.

Fakebook · 19/10/2012 20:36

Who doesn't use exfoliating bath mitts from Boots? They are great for taking dirt off your body. Sometimes it's shameful looking at the dirty water in the shower after a good scrub with some shower gel.

So yeah, yanbu. You need to scrub to get the dirt off too.

shewhowines · 19/10/2012 20:36

With bubble bath I'd only wash pits and bits. Nobody has ever said i smelt yet.....

Devora · 19/10/2012 20:37

Well, just sitting won't get you clean - you'll need some hand or flannel action as well. And I would always use a little soap in certain bits. But not all over, because yes, water alone is good enough for most of your body (my skin reacts very badly to soap, so I only use it where I have to). If you use bubble bath, I don't see why you'd need soap as well - it's just soap on soap, isn't it?

Devora · 19/10/2012 20:38

I'm mystified by all this talk of scrubbing and showering - just how filthy do you all get? Grin

bonnieslilsister · 19/10/2012 20:40

Who sits in a bath without washing? asks AKissIsNotAContract there is a 12 year old ds sitting right next to me who would do that Grin

Fakebook · 19/10/2012 20:44

Devora, just use the exfoliating gloves from boots once and your skin will feel squeaky clean. Scrubbing gets rid off all those dead skin cells and other crap. The water in this country is too soft. Using soap here doesn't do anything to clean.

AgentZigzag · 19/10/2012 20:45

Very filthy Devora Wink

AllPastYears · 19/10/2012 21:19

The Japanese think it's filthy to get in a bath without washing first. They shower, or wash at a tap, and only then get in the bath. Smile

Snazzyspookyandscary · 19/10/2012 21:24

I would say you need the sweaty bits actually scrubbing, yes. Though am quite taken aback that some of you shower after a bath to make sure - I admire your commitment to doing the job properly...

cakepops · 19/10/2012 21:24

I couldn't imagine scrubbing my poor skin with a glove. Ouch. But then I do have ezecma.

I do shower after a bath though.
