To think that just having a bath doesn't make you clean?

I mean, you also need to wash with some sort of soap... You are not clean by virtue of just sitting in the bath? Are you?!

I gave up on baths, showers only for Dh and me, daily I might add.
But Dd will play in the bat without washing, kids! I have to remind her whats she's doing in there. I've taken to shoving her in the shower and sudsing her up and rinsing, seems to work well, but she gets horrible dry skin. So it's not daily.

I have a soak in the bath, get out and have a shower.

awbless · 19/10/2012 21:31

bonnieslilsister yes and my guess is he may still be same in 7 years time, because there is a 19yo DS lolling next to me, who often looks exactly the same when he gets out of the bath as he did when he got in! And don't get me started on teeth cleaning!

ginmakesitallok · 19/10/2012 21:32

For me baths aren't about getting clean - they are about getting 5 minutes peace and shaving my legs. I have a shower every morning to get clean.

My mum always said sitting in a bath was akin to wallowing in your own filth.

Brainwashed from a young age, I now enjoy wallowing in my own filth but feel the need to wash it off.

My baths are not filthy btw.

JollyJackOLantern · 19/10/2012 21:34

I always shower after having a bath. I can't wash my hair in the bath, or at least not properly.

Can't remember the last time I had a bath though!

Sure, bubble bath is soaplike, but it's very, very dilute compared to rubbing soap directly on a wet cloth or skin. You wouldn't try washing by dropping a cake of soap in the bath and trying to wash with the water, would you?
