To wonder why i don't care?

I have four DC and I'm starting to wonder if I'm strange not to care about Prams,slings,cloth or disposable,blw,Co sleeping or whatever choices people make for their babies. As long as the baby is safe and well,what's the harm IMO.
Every toddler or baby group or parenting site seems to have stuff like that as hot topics. Its even dripping into the staff room.
Or maybe I'm just a grumpy cow in my old age.

It is because you have 4 that you don't care. You know that it makes bugger all difference and that it is exhausting. Feel for us PFB parents with the time to read all this nonsense and we don't have the experience to tell us it's all the same in the end.

I think it's really only something you care so much about in the early days

Mine are 12 and 13 and the list of stuff I don't give a shit about is a mile long. It's only when you look back that you realise how much of the stuff you thought was vital didn't matter one teeny tiny bit.

If I could have my PFB time again, knowing what I know now, I would be so relaxed.

Lol,well they seem to be doing ok considering. I just took pot luck. Nowadays it seems there are different types of parenting styles. I can't keep up with it all.

Yes! my two are 18 and 21 now and being bottle fed, living on breaded turkey and chips, icecream and jelly plus being cared for by an odd selection of nannies and childminders did them no harm at all. Oldest graduated from Oxford this year and DS2 will be off to uni next September. Both tall, fit and good looking too. I'm so pleased that I was too tired juggling work and home that I never got the time to get wound up by all that crap.

True Hecate . I was so busy trying not to kill my first DC with my novice parenting. If I could have that time back I would be like I was with the last one. A bit of crying whilst I'm on the loo will not irreperably harm them.

I'm expecting pfb and, while I've made decisions on what products I'd prefer (sling seems practical for town centre flat etc) i will be steering well clear of anything that requires me to voice a strong opinion one way or another!

I just finished potty training the youngest. I was asked which method I used in work. I said I gave her knickers and sat her on the potty. Apparently this is wrong.

I have three. I was far too PFB with my eldest, but even then I bought a second hand pram which converted in to a buggy later on for £30. That included rain cover and cosy toes-bargain. She was born after three MC so I thought I was allowed to be a bit PFB.

After a 10 year gap (different relationship) I had DD2, but came very close to losing her when she was born. Buggies and the latest 'things' mattered even less!! Then 54 weeks later my DS was born, all than mattered was I had a double buggy to put them both in, so I could get out of the house and keep my sanity (what little there was left of it at that point).

Other peoples paretning styles are obviously wrong but matter little to me as long as their children are fed, warm, loved and not abused.

We all have different ways of doing things. I even have different ways of doing things with my different children.

dd3 is 12 years younger than her nearest sibling. I can honestly say that i have not given a seconds though to 90% of the pram vs sling, cloth vs disposible, breast vs bottle.

however, had mumsnet been around 18 years ago, i would have been drawn in!

YANBU OP, it's all extended navel gazing IMO! Don't get me started on "birth plans"!!!!

AND of course the manufacturers of all this crap essential equipment take FULL advantage of all the PFB parents.

I remember AGONISING over which pushchair to buy, which sling was best, and whether a top up bottle would stunt PFB's mental and physical growth... and and I sterilised EVERYTHING ..toys etc.

Probably just as well DS1 came along just 13 months later... and DD2 12 months after that. She was lucky to even get a pushchair and she potty trained herself (same as Cookingfunt.. nappy off pants and there you go dear...) at 2.

As for DS2... poor child....

When I had the first one I had a pram,a cot,a highchair and a bouncer. She played with stacking cups and cloth books mainly. There no stimulating specific toys,no "must haves" or anything like that. She got top marks in her exams and has loads of friends ( I am thinking of banning fb).

But mine will clearly be the most perfect specimen ever to grace your presence

Birth Plan a la Pidj:
Go to hospital
Have baby by safest method available according to expert medical assessment of situation as it occurs
Shower while dp arranges visits from new gp's and ggp
Eat yummy food, wet baby's head
Come home

Totally agree fudge . There's two pregnant ladies in my department and they are constantly comparing stuff and reading reviews. I'm delighted for them but they are getting all in a tizzy. Babies care about full tummys and clean bums.

Pidj when you find yourself in stirrups with two doctors and a fuck off spotlight glaring into the business end of your fanjo, you will honestly not care if the nurse wants to invite her extended family to watch you shower.
