to shamelessly love Halloween!

Its my all time favourite and I have two youngsters now so love it even more. I decorate the front of the house and living room and buy the kids a pumpkin each. Last year I carved my daughter a cat pumpkin and my son a jack skellington one. I just love it :)
I have outfits already for both kids.
I am due my third baby on the 15th and hope I am up to it this year.
Anyone else totally love Halloween?

Oh yes, I love Halloween! My SIL is American and apparently it's HUGE over there. People go to a massive effort to decorate their houses and everyone dresses up. Not many people seem to do it around here.

I love it. I'd love to visit the States at Halloween, my mum did one year, she still goes on about it. We spend the evening at my mum's because she lives in a lovely cul de sac, we both go mental for it and decorate the porch up and get all excited every time the bell goes. We are SUCH infants, but it's fab.

I love halloween too. Have to miss it this year though as Im due 2nd nov and have a sweep on the 31st itself.

But we got a huge pumpkin yesterday to carve and I love when its lit. I sprinkle ground cinnamon on the lid so when its lit the house smells yummy.

DD wants to dress up as a purple pumpkin (no idea why) but I think she will have to be a witch instead!

My favourite time of year.

We're big fans in our house and have decorations up for a week. We've already made a start on making some of the fab craft ideas I've found on Pinterest.

It's also my wedding anniversary. I always wanted to get married on Halloween and fortunately DP agreed (he says it makes it easy for him to remember the date!)

I would love to go to America to see it too!!
I actually put my sons robotic tarantula on our door step last year and when the door went we switched it on, hehe!
All was great till our neighbours two year old granddaughter screamed the place down, so maybe no remote spidey this year but I can't wait to carve those pumpkins!

It's big in Ireland too, much bigger than in England. I was never a huge fan but I do find the anti-Hallowe'en thing a bit blah :(

YANBU. Who cares if its an American "holiday". I love it. I made DD a Mickey Mouse pumpkin 2 years ago, and an evil clown one last year. She loves dressing up like a witch. I bought my son a halloween outfit last year in the M&S sales before he was even born for this year .

This year I'm going to tell DD some childish scary stories. I can't wait!

I am so glad its not just me, I am 33 going on 5 at Halloween.

I like it because its my sons birthday :) and he gets all excited. He gets loads of free sweets and gets to dress up and have fun. This year he wants to be a dinosaur. We started the costume last week :)

Oooh yes, I love Halloween (and got my Halloween namechange already in place). I do a party every year for DD and a few of her friends and go to town decorating the house and making ghoulish cakes and biscuits and crafts with them. We are actually in the States over Halloween this year and literally cannot wait. Have bought DD a new outfit which she'll wear all day as i know the locals will go mad for it as it's a big occasion out there.

Our neighbours are going to be disappointed as we're not going to be around as DH dresses up as the devil and does fire juggling and sword swallowing shows for the street to watch. One year he brought out our huge stick insects and put them on whoever rang our bell

Shamelessly love Hallowe'en too

I've got special Hallowe'en hand towels (black with embroidered bats) and a Nightmare Before Christmas Skellington Jack keyring (he's in a tiny coffin) that I hang on the downstairs loo lightpull thingey.

I love Halloween. Can't wait but no inspiration on what to wear. Well I do but it costs too much, is from US and probably wouldn't get here in time

Hallowe'en is not "an American holiday," it was big in Ireland long before America existed and it is still big today.

My memories are of Bonfire nights and burning Guy Fawkes. Smashing times with sausages, sparklers and ooh aahs.

I would like to replicate that for my own kids, but we live in an ex-pat community and the American mums do an absolutely fantastic job of arranging a Haloween do that involves everyone and really binds the community.

I'd be an idiot to shun any of this, our kids love it as much as I loved Guy Fawkes night. The main difference is that they do not get to burn an effigy.

I love bonfire night too, I love the whole back story to it though :)
Autumn is my favourite season!

I love Autumn too. DD's birthday is in November so we always have a mini firework display on her birthday. I think Halloween, 5th November and Christmas are the main reasons I love winter so much. We need more special days in the summer too.

Hallowe'en was being celebrated by the Celts 2000 years ago - WE imported it to America. Learn your history! If you want to be authentic - carve turnips not pumpkins and go 'guising' not trick or treating.

YABU - I hate it. My children start talking about it months before and it really gets me down. The thought of all those sweets, the demands for new outfits, new decorations, the pressure for them to go out with the coolest friends and to have an amazing time. Oh and having to cut up sodding pumpkins. Ugh.

Erm. Yes I don't really need a history lesson. It's pretty obvious that the tradition was taken from here to America. However, what I meant, was the whole "making a big fuss" of celebrating it the way Americans do. Children don't trick or treat here the way they do in America. It's a very Americanised holiday, which is not celebrated with full gusto in the UK. That is what I meant.

Oh and some people complain about all these American traditions making their way over here, like baby showers and valentines day. Some people complain about halloween the same way too.

What I meant Fakebook is that children trick or treat in Ireland too, it's not just America. It's pretty huge where I come from - decorations, parties, trick or treating, the works.
