alphbite how is getting free condoms any different from the pill, coil etc? Do you think you are funding everyone who's on the pills sex life. What about your own?

They fund other forms of contraception so why not. Otoh condoms are not prescribed and are available cheaply.

Giving out condoms is cheaper than pregnant women, abortions and treating STI's!

12 is the average they tend to give out but if you get a nice FP nurse they will give you more.

I wear hearing aids and am entitled to free batteries from my GP or the Audiology Department at the hospital that gave me the hearing aids.

Sometimes I'm given two packs of six batteries and sometimes I'm given ten packs. Perhaps the number you are given depends on the person giving out condoms.

I second SaraSidle's comment about the NHS. Each hearing aid costs £1500. If I lose one, it will be replaced free of charge but I'm allowed to lose only one. After that I would have to pay for a replacement. There's nothing wrong there because it makes me more careful with them.

A box of condoms is less expensive to the NHS than an unwanted pregnancy or a STD.

It still seems strange to me that they are free on the NHS but when I think about it, free condoms do make sense

Sorry but some of you really do talk nonsense.

The NHS provide free contraception generally, not just condoms and a free service to enable us to have babies.

It's much cheaper for the NHS to pay for contraception than it is to pay for the abortions that would result of unwanted pregnancies.

Or do you think women should pay for their own abortions too?
