I love it, favourite season. However I read today that we are pretty much skipping it this year and going straight to gales and frosts very soon.

Pastabee · 22/09/2012 23:03

My favourite season too. Stylish clothes after summer disasters, casseroles, leaves, Christmas on horizon etc.

I got married in October. Perfect, warming sunshine and the leaves just turning in all the pictures.

Hassled · 22/09/2012 23:06

I love it. When I was a kid we moved to England in late August - and then we had Last Night of the Proms, Halloween, toffee apples, it suddenly dark in the evenings - was all very exciting. And I still, a hundred years later, feel that excitement. It is the best season.

And boots. You get to wear boots again - and you've got to love boots.

BikeRunSki · 22/09/2012 23:08

I love it. Give me boots, coolies and cords (for my November birthday!) over flimdy sundresses any day!

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 22/09/2012 23:09

YANBU

It's the best season.

Beamur · 22/09/2012 23:12

YANBU
Ditto to boots and it being the best season.

CreepyWeeBrackets · 22/09/2012 23:18

Autumn sunshine is the best.

YY to Season of New Boots.

zippy539 · 22/09/2012 23:23

I LOVE autumn but for some reason I'm not quite ready for the dark nights this year.

Psammead · 23/09/2012 01:40

I like autumn a lot, but for the giant mutant clog wearing spiders.

juniper904 · 23/09/2012 01:53

Tonight felt very autumnal. There was a crispness to the air. I love the crunchy leaves etc, but I'd rather it be warm.

CaliforniaLeaving · 23/09/2012 02:28

I love anything that isn't summer. So Autumn is on my list, I can't wait for Jeans, boots and jumpers. Meals that I can cook in the oven so it heats the whole place up. Clouds (I'm fed up of blue skies) and maybe even some rain.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/09/2012 02:29

I love Autumn too, the garden is a lovely colour, people (generally Grin ) don't walk about in too few clothes.
There's the 'hint' of Christmas and Hallowe'en.

However I work with the Great British General Public who whinge all the flipping time..
"Oh, we didn't have a summer" Hmm
"I hate Christmas" Hmm Hmm
"We had a really bad winter" (We had three days of snow) Hmm

But when we did have some warm days "Oh it's tooo hot. Do you like this hot weather? It's too hot"

Head/Desk.

GrassIsntGreener · 23/09/2012 03:48

I get excited at every new season, but then I'm a soppy thing! Wink

Alligatorpie · 23/09/2012 07:07

I LOVE autumn, but as I live in Egypt, I miss it. We go from summer to winter and back again. But leaves crunching under my feet is one of my favorite things!

gettingeasier · 23/09/2012 07:10

Love it too

MakeHayNotStraw · 23/09/2012 07:12

grassisntgreener I'm with you - whatever season we are just entering is my favourite!

MakeHayNotStraw · 23/09/2012 07:13

But that wasn't meant to sound as daft and soppy as it did Blush

MarshaBrady · 23/09/2012 07:25

Love the beginning of each season too. So Autumn is lovely then at the other side enjoy blossom and start of Spring.

Autumn is great for colour, knits, excitement over Christmas.

needahandtohold · 23/09/2012 07:32

grassisntgreener I love the start of all the seasons too. Spring and autumn are my favourites - they always seem to be fresh, whereas summer and winter always feel like a disappointment.

OwedToAutumn · 23/09/2012 07:36

Autumn is my favourite (who'da guessed it) I love the soft light. I love the crunchy leaves, and the smell of tannin in the air.

Where I am from, we didn't really have Autumn, so it's a bit of a novelty to me (even though I've lived here for 20 odd years, now).

Pascha · 23/09/2012 07:50

My favourite too. I just switched to a warmer throw and a thicker duvet yesterday, and dug my thick hoodies out Smile. It's supposed to rain all afternoon while I cook roast beef. I do love watching the rain outside while I'm dealing with good food inside.

TitWillow · 23/09/2012 07:59

As I'm in Scotland, there isn't a season where you don't need boots!

But yes, Autumn is my favourite time of year. I love the storms where the wind is really strong, but still a bit warm, there's so much energy in the air it's exciting.
There's Halloween and the fireworks to look forward to, and planning for Xmas starts (in my head) The smell of coal and wood fires hangs about on a still day.
Summer tends to be a damp squib here, but Autumn is always great. We had our first frost yesterday, and then it was crisp and sunny all day. Beautiful.

TheHairyBaker · 23/09/2012 08:00

Yesterday was the perfect Autumn day, dappled sunshine but cool enough to don the winter boots and most importantly to persuade DH to light a fire. DS had his first ever hot choc before bed. I feel a Saturday night tradition beginning. Roll on dark nights, hearty food, the sound of fireworks and Christmas preparations.

There's something to love about every season but Autumn somehow seems the most perfect.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 23/09/2012 08:00

I love autumn sunshine on bright orange and yellow leaves against a clear blue sky... Have always saud that if I could guarantee a day like that, id love to get married in the autumn!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/09/2012 11:17

And the start of Dr Who Smile

I don't watch it, but my DH and my (nearly) 13yo DS have their regular Saturday night Male Bonding TV Session.

Then it'll be 'Merlin'.
