where are my socks?

in the last 8 weeks i have bought 15 pairs of socks.

5 pairs of black trainer socks

10 pairs of black socks with coloured toes.

I am wearing a pair now.

And i have one other sock. A single one, not a pair.

So where are the other 27?

27 missing socks.

It is ridiculous.

The missing socks are apparently in my odd socks box, well half of them, anyway. I seem to have about 57 odd socks between 5 people. It's starting to righteously piss me off!

I bought 8 pairs of new socks.

I have 3 left.

FUCK KNOWS where they are. All the washing is done.

Where the flip are they? I've checked the DDs floors and can't see them. Admittedly they may be hidden under the avelanche of shit that is in their rooms. But DD2 only wears coloured socks.

I hate socks. The wee buggers think they are so effing smart pissing off and hiding.

Yes! Why does this always happen?! I bought DD 2 packs of 7 pairs of socks. That's 14 pairs of socks, and I can only ever find odd pairs. Where the hell do they go? .

Our collective odd sock basket is a pop-up laundry basket. It's well over half full (must be 100's of socks), and I cannot find school or sports socks for DD. Mind you, there must be a growing community of them at school as well - ever since a regime change so that she comes home every day in PE kit, she goes to school with 2 blue socks (with 2 hard-won white socks in her PE bag), and comes home wearing the white socks, which she promptly sheds and loses somewhere in the house, and with one blue sock in her bag. Every Bloody Day. As if the house/washing machine/cat weren't making socks disappear fast enough [just ordered yet more socks from M&S]

I should say... I don't have one of these... Sock Saver... and I am as bad as the next person at losing socks... but 27 sock is a lot to lose!

I could only clip the fuckers together snd save them if i could sodding find them. Bastards.

Mine is an overflowing waste paper bin too! It resides atop my tumble dryer so that I can put any stray socks in there straight away. I go through it once a week to match up any that might actually have a mate in there!

My only other suggestion was the sock monster - he steals socks to eat, and is similar to the Cookie Monster except he eats socks, not cookies.

I'd like to invent a small microchip with a GPS signal that you clip onto each new pair of socks, then you can locate lost ones via a quick look on the computer.

I go through it once a week to match up any that might actually have a mate in there!

So do I! Do you find, though, that, mysteriously, however many pairs you manage to match up, the bin is just as full afterwards?

I bought 6 pairs of special black socks with squishy soles for work, in August. I can now only find two and they don't match!? (different coloured spots on the sole)

I suspect they are in the tumble dryer.

Only I don't own one. Maybe my 27 missing socks are in someone elses.

Captain you're so right! How does that even happen? I started out with the same number of knives, forks, spoons and teaspoons.

There are currently no teaspoons in the drawer but a full set of the rest of the cutlery.

If I'm lucky I might be able to find one teaspoon on the cutlery drainer and possible another in a yoghurt pot somewhere in the lounge.

There's no way on earth that all four of us could ever have boiled eggs at the same time though!!

I only buy black socks for myself so they always match. I count them into and out of the washing machine, pair them on the line and immediately pair them into a ball before they go back into the drawer. I never have odd socks.

However, I can't keep track of the DC's socks: they could be under sofas, in toys, used to wrap 'presents' for people or just randomly scattered throughout the house. My DD wears tights to school.

Teaspoons: buy 50 in a job lot, they do not have to match the other cutlery.

They will be in the sock zone, with all my family's socks.

I fucking hate socks.
