where are my socks?

in the last 8 weeks i have bought 15 pairs of socks.

5 pairs of black trainer socks

10 pairs of black socks with coloured toes.

I am wearing a pair now.

And i have one other sock. A single one, not a pair.

So where are the other 27?

27 missing socks.

It is ridiculous.

Catwoo. Do you think it reasonable to lose 27 socks in 8 weeks?

They are either under the bed or in the corner of the duvet cover.

My DS (2) enjoys hiding all our socks, by claiming to "help" me sort out the washing. I later spot them peeping out from beneath radiators, in plant pots, the cutlery drawer or the dog's basket. There's a collection of them somewhere along with a load of Tupperware that I'm missing too, but have given up trying to find.

I don't know where you're all going wrong. I've never lost socks. We don't have an odd sock box/bag or any other container. The socks just get chucked in the pop up laundry bin, then in the washer, then to the drier, then left in the basket till they're all worn and end up back in the laundry bin put away in drawers.

How do you lose them??

I think on balance that if I (or anyone else) knew how they are getting lost then we would stop losing the bloody things

50 job lots of teaspoons are crap spoons and bend too easily and do not cope with being dropped down the sink scrunger upper.

I know Exit but it's all I can afford, the rest of my money goes on replacing lost socks!

I have no teaspoons.

I have myself, 3dcs, and a DH.

And not one person could find a matching pair of socks.

I strongly suspect they must be in ds1 locker at school, simply because as soon as an item is put in there, it inexplicably vanishes.

I have an odd sock bag. There must be at least 50 socks in it at any one time. I'm baffled.

I seem to spend my life buying packets of Value teaspoons in Tesco. Yet when the kids all want a yoghurt at the same time can I find three of the fucking things? Can I buggery. My ex had the kids the other day while I popped out for a bit and I came back to find him stirring a cup of tea with a fork

I also lose pens. Many, many pens.

Just a thought. How often do you sort through the odd sock boxes? I'm thinking one sock went in there, then it's partner appeared at a later date, the first one couldn't be found (it's in the box remember!) so then the other one goes in.

GOLD - odd sock pairing is a family game here... we are, I grant you, overdue a session, but I am fairly confident it won't yield school socks that fit.

I don't even have an odd sock box. Becsuse i have no fucking socks at all. Not even odd ones.

I so will not sort out the socks. I suggested a sock amnesty during the summer holidays and was met with derision.

Tupperware boxes are another mystery. DD used to take them to school with packed lunch etc and they never used to come home. At the end of term I used to go into school and raid her desk and the cupboards to no avail.

My cat sometimes brings home socks (not ours!) as well as teddy bears, dog leads and various other treasures! Maybe you have a stealing animal nearby...

I gave up matching socks yonks ago. I know follow the 'vaguely similar' rule. Makes life easier!

Although I do leave all blatantly odd socks in the clean washing basket and they usually find their mate eventually.

If anyone asks "do you realise you're wearing odd socks?"

I did that OP, though my trainer socks are white and my longer socks are black! I have four pairs of trainer socks and 15 or so pairs of normal ones. Mine are all in my 'odd sock bag' waiting to be 'paired' though
