I have an awful feeling that it might go the same way with children as the Youve Been Tangoed!!Hmm

I think it's really nasty and I don't often think like that about ads.

GoldenPrimrose123 · 21/09/2012 10:37

I said the same thing to DH a few days ago!

Mrsjay · 21/09/2012 10:38

I feel sorry for the go compare man Sue thingy blew him up and somebody is kicking a football at him , poor man Grin

cheekybarsteward · 21/09/2012 10:40

I really thought this advert would be off the air by now. I am shocked at it and have had to explain to my DD(5) that it is a really nasty advert and that this behaviour is wrong :(
Who would laugh at this?

LottieJenkins · 21/09/2012 10:41

Glad it isnt just me!!! Grin

Mrsjay · 21/09/2012 10:43

My DDs are older so they know how mean it is I guess it would be hard for little children to understand, I know it is only an advert but kids pick up on it. It is just mean

cornzy · 21/09/2012 10:44

I agree - it's horrible

RubberBullets · 21/09/2012 10:52

So kicking a football at him is really bad but firing a bazooka at him isn't? Confused

McKayz · 21/09/2012 10:54

Exactly Rubber. Its ok to let children to see him being blown up but not have a football kicked at him.

LottieJenkins · 21/09/2012 10:54

RubberBullets Children arent likely to get hold of a Bazooka and fire it. They can however easily get hold of a football and kick it at someones stomach very hard!!! Sad

YANBU - and I think the football one is worse than the bazooka because it's more real. The bazooka iscartoon-style violence (I'm not mad about that ad either, but it's better than the football one).

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 21/09/2012 11:17

I think the football one is horrible, the poor man writhing on the floor at the end is just hideous :( I think it's because it's Stuart Pearce too, and the old "Psycho" thing. It's just so mean and nasty.
The bazooka one was more unreal and cartoonish, and he emerges from the hole relatively unscathed iyswim, not clutching anything in pain or rolling around. It's still not exactly nice, but not nearly as bad as the football one.

LottieJenkins · 21/09/2012 14:04

I agree the bazooka one is more cartoonish. I think just about everybody agrees with me which is nice!!!Smile

I hate this ad too ...his face is so aggressive when delivering the kick

canistartagainplease · 21/09/2012 14:38

I really dislike this ad ,as well.
It seems to play on "justifible" laddish meaness, and the identity of the guy with the shopping bag was lost on me, so all in all it doesnt work as an insurance ad (here anyway).

Can you imagine ,a yob like shopping bag man, as a tipical customer of gocompare, and getting involved in a road rage incident?

squoosh · 21/09/2012 15:07

Thought it was just me!

I hate this ad, felt like a bit soppy eejit for feeling sorry for Annoying Opera Man, but I do. There's just such a meanness to it. I didn't like the bazooke one much either. Sue Barker's smug was wafting through the tv screen.

Bad Go Compare.

bigsnugglebunny · 21/09/2012 16:11

I also thought it was just me, I see nothing funny or entertaining about someone being hurt. It just seems to encourage inflicting pain on someone if they are slightly "annoying"

RuleBritannia · 21/09/2012 16:59

Are we supposed to know who the man who kicks the football is? I don't.

squoosh · 21/09/2012 17:01

He used to play for England and famously missed a penalty.

LottieJenkins · 21/09/2012 17:01

RuleBritannia The footballer is an ex England player called Stuart Pearce whos nickname is "Psycho".......................Hmm

LottieJenkins · 21/09/2012 20:41

Bump!!!

Sausagedog27 · 21/09/2012 20:57

I was going to start a thread on this today. I think it's bullying and not nice that it's being shown on tv. I felt really upset when he is on the floor in pain Sad

dementedma · 21/09/2012 21:06

Wow,thought it was just me. Don't like go compare man at all but the shot of him writhing in pain is horrible. Really don't like this ad.

hanreeoak · 21/09/2012 21:18

I hate it too, its horrible.
