I just thought it wasn't very realistic that Stuart Pearce hit the target!

HissyByName · 21/09/2012 21:52

I don't like ANY of these violent GoCompare adverts, they are tasteless and very poorly thought out.

canistartagainplease · 22/09/2012 18:21

so the advert's a complete dud, then .

Hope the ad guys are reading mn.

limitedperiodonly · 23/09/2012 08:14

The ad guys will like it. They'll only care if Go Compare notice a drop in business and blame them.

The received wisdom is that this type pf product thrives on annoying adverts - Direct Line, MoneySupermarket.com, WeBuyAnyCar.com, Sheila's Wheels, MoreThan. You can be furious about an individual ad but if you're shopping around for cheap deals Go Compare sticks in your head and money talks.

HeyMicky · 23/09/2012 08:16

There will be more. The ad agency is killing off the Go Compare opera man as everyone finds him so annoying. Agree this version is quite aggressive though

Brixtonelf · 24/09/2012 13:04

I hate it. Poor guy doesn't deserve being blown up and attacked with a football.

But like a poster above I was amazed that Stuart Pearce actually managed to get him first time. I keep imagining when they were filming it that they were on take 42 with the opera guy standing there a bit nonplussed and the director saying to SP "Don't worry Mr Pearce, we'll get someone else to fire the shot on target at him".

NightLark · 24/09/2012 13:14

I also had no idea the footballing man was anyone in particular. And think the advert is nasty, mean spirited and unpleasant. I get that the singing guy is annoying, but belting him with a football is aggressive and wrong. And easily acted out, unlike firing a bazooka.

OhlimpPricks · 24/09/2012 13:15

It is subliminally telling children that such behaviour is acceptable, whether or not it is presented in a humorous context.
I also dislike that ad for salad cream or tomato sauce where all the BBQ guests barge past each other in order to get to the ice cream van that is dispensing the sauce.
Yes, as grwn ups, we know it's an imaginary scenario, but kids see it and think it's ok to act in such a manner.

RightUpMyRue · 24/09/2012 13:17

I also really dislike this ad. It makes me feel uncomfortable. It's aggressive and vicious and we're all supposed to find it amusing Confused

Horrible.

missmartha · 24/09/2012 13:20

I think it's bluddy horrible to suggest that it's alright to kick a ball at someone so hard (and I loathe the opera singer, trust me), that they fall, writhing in pain to the ground.

Very nasty and cruel.

puds11 · 24/09/2012 13:21

Link? I havn't seen it

cuteboots · 24/09/2012 13:43

Bloody awful advert. Im not sure why we are supposed to find it amusing or entertaining.
