So what's it all about?

Women can't be Freemasons, they can join the Eastern Star but they wont know much about the Masonry.

apostropheuse · 12/09/2012 22:35

No I'm not

Bleachy · 12/09/2012 22:36

Heard lots.....

Apparently the lowly people dont know the actual meaning behind the group, the higher up you go the more powerful they are and are involved in all sorts of satanic rituals. Apparently

NellyJob · 12/09/2012 22:36

I am but it's a secret

Bleachy · 12/09/2012 22:37

yes have heard of the women rule

WerthersUnOriginal · 12/09/2012 22:38

Bil is. Brownies for grownups.

apostropheuse · 12/09/2012 22:38

shhhhhhhhhh someone might be listening

ExitPursuedByABear · 12/09/2012 22:39

I couldn't possibly say.

(agree - women can't be)

JazzyComposition · 12/09/2012 22:39

Is it like a knit and bitch group really but they just want to make it sound mysterious?

OP posts:
PretzelTime · 12/09/2012 22:39

Why of course, who isn't?

Softlysoftly · 12/09/2012 22:40

My grandad was found loads of stuff when he passed, women are banned and tbh I couldn't be doing with secret handshakes and hopping about on one leg or whatever. I actually think it would be like one giant powerful networking business club when you get into it, like your average business conference but with better catering and more cloaks.

ToothbrushThief · 12/09/2012 22:40

It's scouts for men

ToothbrushThief · 12/09/2012 22:41

nah actually it's Brownies for men

Yourefired · 12/09/2012 22:41

No I'm not, but when working for a large corporate, they hired the masons headquarters for a diversity training event. Someone in training must have had a bleak sense of humour. Beautiful stonework.

Bleachy · 12/09/2012 22:42

Im sure someone will come on in a minute and tell us what ACTUALLY happens in the secret meetings. And that they dont all sit around in the meetings eating pork pies and discussing golf techniques

MySpanielHell · 12/09/2012 22:42

How is it like the Souts? Do they go out in canoes in the cloaks?

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 12/09/2012 22:42

Yes like a huge networking thing I imagine it to be. I heard if the judge is one they can do little secret hands and get off, though I realise this probably be bollocks.

roughtyping · 12/09/2012 22:42

When my granny died I got her Eastern Star handbook.

MySpanielHell · 12/09/2012 22:42

Scouts, even.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 12/09/2012 22:43

What happened in the eastern star? And secret hand gestures?

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 12/09/2012 22:43

All the secret crap is on the internets for all to see. Yawn.

Bleachy · 12/09/2012 22:44

come on someone, its nearly my bed time and im hoping to read some wacky things before i go to sleep

qo · 12/09/2012 22:45

WhenI was in the police station last week -earwigging- waiting to see someone, a lady came in to complain about a man continually getting away with driving while banned.

I heard her say that it would be easy for her to find out who keeps letting him off as her father is a freemason Shock

KitCat26 · 12/09/2012 22:45

Grandpa was one (deceased). No idea what it entails- except a lot of networking and charity work. Can't imagine anything satanic being involved he was a churchwarden... or maybe that was a bluff Shock Grin

Latara · 12/09/2012 22:46

One of my colleagues is married to the leader of the Freemasons in my area; i admit that i was slightly worried when she started bitching about me at work...
Then i got annoyed because i read that Freemasons are meant to be Christians; or at least have a belief in a God of some kind... & if she's religious then she shouldn't be bitchy!

I've met a retired Policeman who recieved social care (eg. free meals) from the local Freemasons (he was a Freemason).

I think that anyone in a job such as national or local government; or in the MOD or Public Sector (inc. the Police) should declare membership of certain groups such as the Freemasons.
Freemasons should be more open about their aims & about what they do - if nothing else it would help prevent some of the paranoid conspiracy theories.
