So why do my kittens eat muesli, dog biscuits , bread and pizza crust?

Omnivores perhaps a better description? Mine are complete dustbins - they will tackle just about anything. Potato peel, mango skin, curry sauce - just a few recent delicacies!

Not only carnivores, but obligate carnivores, as in they will die without protein (unlike dogs, who can manage on all sorts...!). Cats do like weird things though - they probably like the salt.

Mine is partial to salt and vinegar crisps, and the chocolate on a bar of snickers. No other chocolate, just snickers.

He also like the odd vole, spider etc.

Just for kicks I suppose. They wont get nutrition from these foods - they must have meat as their proper diet.

Mine like to like lick the butter in the butter dish, and lick olive oil off of pans and bowls. Clearly they are suckers for fat...

I think most carnivores will happily try anything that looks like food - they don't need to worry as it will go through their system whether its any real good for them or not. But the thing about all cats is that they need amino acids that only occur in meat, so they can't do without it, whereas other carnivores like dogs coul actually manage to be healthy with a non-meat diet, as long as it was balanced right for them.

My cat loves walkers cheese and onion crisps, not that I feed him them but he'll come and clean up any crumbs when I'm eating them!

They are carnivore and will die on a vegetarian only diet, unlike dogs which can be vegetarian (although seems bit perverse considering no feral dog would choose vegetables over a nice scavenged carcass)!

A cat will eat non meat items such as grass to aid digestion.

Carnivores don't necessarily only eat meat, and they will get some useful nutrition from the other food they eat, but as Pollykitten says cats are obligate carnivores which means that they can only get what they need by eating at least some meat.

I'm on my second set of kittens - the first 2 ate cat food and cat food alone, my new kittens eat anything my dc's drop on the floor and finish the dc's breakfast every morning (they'll do anything for weetabix and the jam off the toast crusts). Ds3 got very cross when they ran off with his pasta that he'd dropped on the floor.

Yes, frogs are definitely meat.

We had one who loved raw peas too. I thought all cats liked cheese, it's what I wrap tablets in for cats and dogs.

My kitten loves crisps, popcorn, toast crusts, ham, tuna, chicken,salad dressing, tomato sauce, bacon bits. i'm sure there's more. If I'm eating on the sofa he sits on my shoulder and puts his head right next to mine stopping me from eating. I have to break off a bit for him and put it in my lap or I'm not able to eat.

He was trying to lick the disgusting greasy grill pan earlier when i was washing up. Really not good considering I'd just squirted it with washing up liquid.

My cat likes raw sparrow. Sadly (or luckily) she's only caught & killed 1 poor bird so far (in 5 years!!).
But the (disgusting, half-eaten yuck) evidence does suggest that she is a Carnivore...
